:Aya's POV:
'beep beep beep' my alarm clock screeched in my ear, jolting me awake. I moaned, not enjoying the light from my window temporarily blinding me. After my eyes adjusted, I looked across the room to see my best friend and dorm mate, Momiji, sleeping happily. So, being the awesome best friend I am, I threw my pillow at her, hitting her square in the face. She jolted awake, and once she realized it was only me, she growled. "You're gonna pay for that, Aya" she growled. If I had just met her, I would have shat my pants in freight. But, I've known Momiji for quite some time now. We even did a newspaper together once, but that's another story. "Come at me, bro" I said with my hands motioning towards me. Yeah, not my best plan. You see, Momiji is part wolf, with wolf ears, eyes, and tail. Not to mention, oh yeah, WOLF REFLEXES! Again, not my best plan. "sheesh, since when were you worried about beauty sleep?" I asked, perched on the ceiling room fan. Yup, reflexes. Momiji growled again, and slumped down on the couch. "plus, today's the day of freedom!" I exclaimed happily. Momiji jumped up, happily. As you can tell, we aren't exactly going to leave each other. Well, we are, at first. But, after a year, we will meet at the highest peak, and then stay together. Good plan, right? "Come on, lets go get ready to pick our companions!" Momiji exclaimed, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Okay!" I yelled at her face, being the loud and awesome creature I am.
*Time Gap*
"Aww!" some other girls in my class squealed, looking at the creatures in the pens. (this is when they are picking thier companions) One of them must have caught their eyes, because they aww'd even louder (if that was possible) It was a baby pig or something, I couldn't tell from the crowd of drama queens. I heard screaming, and everyone surrounding that pen ran away. I looked to see a dragon with smoke coming out of its nostrils, causing both me and Momiji to fall on the ground, laughing. After about 10 minutes of rolling around on the ground, we sobered up and began to search for our own companion. I sat immediately on the ground and waited for the right companion to come to me. Call me cheesy, but that's who I am.
After about 7 minutes, something caught my eye. I saw this little grey kitten with dark gray stripes and bright blue eyes playing with a bunch of puppies. The dogs began playfully surrounding the kitten, but it must have gotten scared, because it ran over and hid behind me. The pups got the message, and left the kitten alone to play with some dragons (only some creatures are in pens) After calming down, the kitten began climbing up my arm and perched on my shoulder. "Aren't you a little bird" I whispered more to myself than the kitten. Yes, I'm aware that normal people don't talk to themselves. But hey, I have wings, so your argument is invalid.
After a little while, I had made my decision. This kitten, he was the one. He was currently asleep in the hood of my hoodie, that I was currently wearing today. I met up with Momiji who had the creepiest smile one her face. "Dude, what up with your face?" I asked hearing the kitten purring in his sleep. "Shut up." She shot back. "Anyways, I would like you to meet my companion, Wrath." She said, stepping aside to reveal a small wolf pup. He had black fur, just as black as my wings, and bright purple eyes. He was adorable, but looked like he could be deadly at the same time. Huh, they will be the perfect team, I thought. "Awww!" I awed at the wolf pup, but he just growled. "Wrath, stop that" Momiji ordered, snapping him out of whatever he was just doing. "Now, greet Auntie Aya with respect" She continued. The pup walked up to me, and licked my hand. "And I would like you to meet... Um, I don't have a name for him yet." I said, feeling ashamed that I didn't have a name for the little kitten yet. I proceeded to take the baby out of my hood, who looked sad that I awoke him. I just shrugged it off, though. "That... Is... Adorable!" Momiji squealed, earning glares from other classmates. Yup, My best friend, everybody. Dead serious at times, retarded at others. Then again, so am I, so yeah.
My thoughts were interrupted by a loud screeching noise, which caused all creatures to jump into action. Unfortunately, the noise is no ordinary noise. The only noise that can turn an awesome day, to the worst day ever. That one noise, that one, horrible noise, was the noise of a bomb. Yup, a bomb. All the creatures knew this noise well enough to know that it wasn't a good sign. I only had time to react. No thinking, just react. My first action was to find something to use, and venture out into the wild. If not, lets just say, that if I'm lucky, the only things left would be my wings.
