As Alala knocked on the library door her mouth curved into a mischievous smile while her father's voice answered from inside. "Yes?"
"Father-"
Her father cut her off, as if he had forgotten she would come over and was trying to cover it up. "Oh yes, come in, come in"
The door creaked as she was greeted by the smell of old books, scrolls and the morning sunlight pouring in from outside. Closing the door with a resounding creak, Alala turned around only to see her father practically choke. "Al-Alala?"
Her smile only grew and she pulled down her sunglasses, giving him a wink. "Feel free to call me Al."
The only sound that pierced the silence then was him choking and turning pink from lack of oxygen. Regretting her decision a bit Alala went forward to pat her father's back.
"Hey, I was just joking.""You better be. Now, what's this?" He gestured at her new look, and it certainly was a new look. Alala looked nothing like she did before and was amused at how people seemed to not know what she was anymore. What, being her gender. Then again, she couldn't blame them because of the precautions she took. Precautions being the extra things she did so people wouldn't be sure if she was a girl. Said precautions were her baggy black below the knee shorts and loose long sleeve shirt. Aside from that for extra precaution she wore her new sunglasses to hide her eyes, and last of all a newspaper boy cap to hide the upper half of her face and her hair.
"Well, you told me yesterday that I could get things to hide my features."
Raising his eyebrow, he gestured to her attire. "And this is what you came up with?"
"Yeah"
Suddenly, her father burst into guffaws and patted her back. A moment passed before he calmed down enough to speak, a smile on his face. "Tell me, how did everyone react?"
She began laughing , remembering everyone reactions. "Everyone assumed I was a boy, but the moment I opened my mouth-" She laughed harder at what she remembered. "Their faces! Oh man, father, you should've seen how confused they were!"
They laughed together for a moment, until they both let out a huff of air. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaahuuuuu"
Remembering why she was here in the first place, Alala turned to her father with questioning eyes. "So, are we going to train?"
"I'm afraid we won't be doing that training for a while."
"Why?"
"We'll be waiting for your great-grandfather to get here," he turned to her, stopping her from saying anything, "he'll be the one to help you." That said and done her father passed her the letter her great-grandfather sent for her before she could say anything in response. The letter was opened fully and so she saw everything that he had written.
Dear Alala,
I've heard from your father that you cannot change forms and that has caused him great worry. It is in his right to be worried, but he needn't. It is but a stumble in the road, this moment where you cannot change forms, so you shouldn 't worry as well for I know just the thing to fix this issue.Though, I ask of you to postpone your training, even if it is a bit selfish of me, I wish for you to wait for me. When I get there I wish to be the one to help you through your first change. Please, young one, grant this old man that one wish.
