Alison

I thought she would come running to me immediately, saying how she'd always chose me. But she didn't. I guess time doesn't mean anything, she must have liked her better.

Emily

It just didn't make sense to be with Alison. I'd be graduating at the end of the year, and Delaney and I were already planning to apply to the same schools. We were supposed to have a future together. But I couldn't lie to myself, I had real sparks with Alison. The way we feel about each other is love. It's just risky.

I ignored Alison for a few days after what she had said, the ultimatum, and she seemed to do the same.

Alison

I realized, after what I'd said to Emily, that I don't have any friends at Rosewood without Emily, and that's just unhealthy. I decided to start with some familiar faces.

"Well, if it isn't Miss Ali D," said Mona as I came to sit with her one day at lunch with her posse.

"Mind if I take a seat, Mona?"

She looked over at her friends, minions, whatevers, and said, "if you ignore it, it will go away." I guess that her years of obsession over me paid off. I found myself being laughed off by her friends as I turned around, prepared to walk out of the lunchroom when someone called out my name. I turned around to find it to be the infamous Noel Kahn.

"The icon himself," I said, laughing. We were good friends before I had to leave.

"The legend herself," he joked. "How have you been, I haven't seen you around."

I looked at the ground, feeling defeated. When I was friends with him, I was on the top of the world. Now, I've been rejected by Loser Mona. "I've been good," I said, "it's weird coming back with almost everyone gone. Everything is different."

"The world shook when you left, I guess," he said, looking deep into my blue eyes. "Hey, I'm having a party this weekend. My house. Why don't you come? You haven't been to one in years. I swear they've gotten better."

"They were never bad," I joked.

"Alright, so I'll see you there?"

"You just might. I'll text you for details if I find a reason to go."

"Emily might be there," he said.

"And why would that be a reason to go, Noel?"

He was startled. "You guys used to be friends..."

I am so stupid! How could I forget that not everything with Emily was secret? People knew us as friends.

"Maybe I'll come, Noel. Maybe."
