Alison

I was just crying. Crying on the couch, even after he'd left. I felt bruises forming on my arms as I just laid there, lifelessly. A couple of sophomores who I'd known from class walking in, stuffing their tongues down each others throats. The girl, Sabrina, had seen me as the boy, Damien, sucked on her neck. "D, stop," she said, staring at me.

The next hour was a blur. Explaining it to the couple, Damien calling the cops, Sabrina trying to calm me down, the police arriving, trying to get me to pull it together. The only thing I remember was Emily. She ran in, immediately holding me, and I remember just falling apart in her arms. "Excuse me, Miss," asked the nasty policewoman, "who are you?"

"I'm Emily, I'm Alison's--"

"She's my girlfriend," I said.

"Miss, uh, Emily," said the cop, "I'm going to have to ask you to step aside for a moment while we take Alison's testimony."

"Alison, what happened," Emily pleaded.

"I'll explain in a few minutes, okay honey? It'll be okay." An officer dragged Emily away to take her account of what had happened up to the moment it happened.

"Miss DiLaurentis, can you tell me what happened tonight?"

"He walked in while I was sleeping. He held me down. He-he-he forced himself on me."

"Who?"

"Noel. Noel Kahn."

"Miss Fields, were you with your girlfriend tonight," asked a male police officer.

"Yes, for about two hours, but then I left because, well, this is a weird situation. I have a girlfriend named Delaney, right? And I like Delaney. But I love Alison. But I don't want to hurt Delaney. But I want to be with Alison. Alison knows about Delaney, but Delaney thinks Alison and I are just friends. So Delaney came around 10, and I left Alison. Someone told everyone to leave and I saw the police going upstairs to Alison. So I followed. And that's all I know."

"Do you know anyone by the name of Noel Kahn?"

"Noel? What does he have to--"

The female police officers walked into the dining room, where they had me held. "Miss Fields, Miss DiLaurentis would like to see you." I followed her upstairs, to another bedroom where Alison was. Apparently, they had cleared out the room we were in earlier to search for any evidence.

"Ali," I said, sitting down next to her on the bed, "what's happening."

"Emily," she said, starting to cry, "Noel Kahn raped me."

Fury. That's what I felt. I started to cry myself, and I'm not a very sensitive girl. All I could think of doing was holding Alison. "Ali, it's not your fault. They're going to get him on this. We'll be okay."

The door opened and Delaney walked in. "Emily? The police told me I could find you up here."

"Delaney, it's really not a good time. I think you should be headed home."

"But--"

"Delaney, head home, " I said.

"Will you call me, when you get home?"

"Delaney," I screamed, "it's not a good time. You should just get going." So she did, leaving me and Ali alone.

"I never should have left you," I said.

"Emily, this isn't your fault," Alison said.

"I should have broken up with Delaney right then and there. Over text if I had to."

"Emi--"

"I would do anything to go back to that moment and protect you."

"I know you would have."

Alison and I were dismissed from the police after another ten minutes. "What," I screamed, "that's it?"

The male police officer came to speak to me again, "Miss Fields, we've done everything we can. Mr. Kahn is down at the station being questioned now."

"He doesn't need to be questioned, he raped her!" Alison grabbed my shoulder.

"Let's just go home," she said, and I looked into her eyes, still bloodshot from sobbing.

I got into Alison's car and she drove to my house, not very far away. As I unbuckled, I looked over and saw the fear in Alison's eyes. "Alison, stay with me tonight, please."

She looked over at me with her crying eyes, "okay." The 'okay' sounded more like a crossover between a sigh and a whisper than a real okay. I knew she wasn't.

I brought her up to my room, somewhere she hadn't been in a while. She stood in the doorway as I went through my drawers to get pajamas for her.

"Emily," she said, "I know you deserve better than having to deal with all my drama, not this, but everything before this. The other girls, they stopped caring about me. I mean, Hanna did send me a card after she heard I was back, but nothing else. But you never stopped. I guess I'm trying to say I love you, Emily."

"I love you too Ali, but today's been a long day, you deserve some rest." I didn't sleep that night, just watching Ali. Around four, she turned to me.

"Come to sleep, Em." I laid down beside her, Ali flinching when I first touch her.

"Are you okay?"

"Mhm."

I then understood that it's love that I felt for her. And I know everything coming up won't be easy. But I'm going to protect her every step of the way.

"I'm not leaving any time soon, Ali. I promise."

(Authors Note: Hi everyone. These last two chapters were hard for me to write. And I know I will be touching on a serious topic here. But I wanted to show that this does happen and I wanted to show the emotional strains rape and sexual assault can have on a person. I also wanted to say that in no way am I trying to romanticize rape. This will become clear as time goes on. If you or a friend is a victim of rape, sexual assault, or incest, please call 800.656.4673. This is the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network's hotline. -Lennox)

Dedicated to victims of sexual assault and rape: I hope to write a storyline as accurate as possible and show the world the struggle of a commonly silenced group of amazing people. Stay strong my loves.
