Q1. How did you discover Wattpad?
A. I was beta reading for a friend when she mentioned the site. I was only a reader when I opened my account and it took me about six months to jump into the writing side.
Q2. Which Fictional character best represents your personality and why?
A. Definitely Katara from A:TLA. Once she set her mind to doing something she did it no matter the consequences. She was also always willing to help when there was a need. Sure her emotions got the best of her at times but she was strong when needed.
Q3. Why do you write?
A. If you'd asked me this question four months ago I wouldn't have had an answer. I asked myself what I thought I was doing. I really had no business calling myself a writer. I still feel that way depending on my mood but with the way my mind works that's how it's going to go. With the people I help and with what I've seen the overwhelming feeling is that they're alone in what they're dealing with.
I resolved to remember that when writing. I don't have a massive amount of readers but one piece I wrote in my little collection hit home with someone who was having a rough time. If one person happens to see something I've written, can relate to it, and feels less like they're suffering in silence then I've done my part even if the masses never see it.
It's also a bit of stress relief since I'm always going, going, going and don't have the luxury of getting massages or taking vacations. (hopefully that'll change someday...)
Q4. What country would like to feature in one of your projects and why?
A. Japan. I've always enjoyed learning about the people. There's also tons to see both in the city and the country. Now that my cousin's stationed there I'm that much more interested in going though I'm not sure how well I'll be received. Plus if I lived there my son would fit right in whereas here I'm told he has "issues." Anime, manga, game systems, Super Mario, I could go on.
5. What is the hardest part of writing for you?
A. Finding the time and staying motivated. Most of my writing gets done while I'm on break at one of my jobs and/or during the six hours I'm waiting out in the lobby during my son's weekly appointments. As a single parent with a super tight schedule there are other things that have to be done.
As for the other part, self motivation has always been an ability I lacked. Add in my crippling self doubt and propensity to procrastinate and it's a wonder anything gets written. Setting deadlines for myself usually does the trick because I want to meet those goals.
