Chapter 11:

I watched Connor as he smashed his lunch tray back in the stack and walked through the crowd of people. I stood there confused. Hmm.. well something must have irritated him a lot. I hope it wasn’t me… I frowned slightly.

I kept standing there in the line for another 2 minutes until I got tired of the extremely long line.

I stood there sulking until someone squeezed my sides.

“AAH!” I screamed.

I whipped my head around to see Josh with huge eyes who started laughing at me.

I glared at him.

“Not funny, I’m very ticklish… “ I frowned.

“Oh trust me, it, in fact, was hilarious!” Josh smiled.

I rolled my eyes jokingly.

“So.. buying lunch?” he asked me.

“Nope, just standing here in line cuz I’m bored..” I said sarcastically.

Josh looked at me weirdly for a minute and then came to realization.

“Ha, you’re slow” I poked him.

Josh muttered something under his breath I couldn’t hear.

“Hey, we should cut up in front, this line is way too long,” Josh whispered in my ear.

“Yeah, I agree, but I didn’t see anyone.” I replied.

“There’s about 500 people in line, and you didn’t see ANYONE?” he asked jokingly.

I raised an eyebrow, “You know what I mean,” I scrunched my mouth.

I tip-toed on my toes looking above heads to find someone I know.

Josh was doing the same.

“Ah-ha! Found someone!” Josh exclaimed grabbing me by the arm, leading me toward the front of the line.

“Darren! Sup man?” Josh pounded his fist.

“Hey Josh, cutting the line?” he asked.

“Uh, well.. if that’s what you call it..” Josh mumbled.

“Dude, just kidding,” Darren laughed.

Darren looked at me, “Hey Krissy, whatsup?”

“Not much,” I replied.

He smiled.

Right now any girl would die and melt at that smile, but it wasn’t doing anything to me. And the opportunity to talk to Darren normally, was only a thing some girls would die for. And I’ll agree I was one of those girls mesmerized… but that was AFTER Connor and BEFORE I met Josh. But, now it was just as if I was talking to anybody else. No dreamy eyes.

“You too Krissy? Gosh.. you two, lucky no crazy girl kicked you to the end of the line” Darren laughed.

I grinned sheepishly.

He did the side sweep hair thing.

I suddenly realized Darren wasn’t the hottie I always thought of him to be. He was uglier than Connor even... maybe, maybe not. I mean, honestly you can’t even compare to Josh. Josh is way too cute. Why did I always feel so dreamy when I saw him…  and most importantly.. when did the feeling go away?
