Owari no Seraph FanFic

Prologue

I remember when days were peaceful. When I had a family to call my own. When I didn't have to fear each moment of my life.

Years ago, a lethal virus spread across the world and wiped out most of humanity, leaving those 13 or younger to live. Vampires came in and enslaved mankind from there.

Now here I was. Four years later after the virus hit. Living in the vampire city with others. I guess I could say they were my family, we took care of each other that way. We all used to live in an orphanage together so we've been together since the beginning.

Though, one day I lost this family too...

"Yuu! Wait up!" I shouted as Yuu stormed off. He had just gotten in a fight with some vampires, he probably would've died if it had not been for Mika. He was probably more mad at the fact that he learned that Mika has been giving blood to the vampire noble, Ferid. Mika had gone off with Ferid.

"I don't get it! How can Mika let that noble use him!" He raged. I ran and quickly caught up.

"I'm sure Mika has a good reason." I tried to assure him, though I was about as worried and mad as Yuu was.

"Like what? I swear I'll kill them all! Every last vampire!" He stated. As he was saying that I could see a shadow around the corner. I quickly grabbed Yuu and pulled us both into a small alley. I covered his mouth. He tried to yell at me, but I signaled him to be quiet with a finger to my mouth.

We watched as two nobles walked by. "And then he started screaming." One of them laughed.

"Ha just to be expected from vermin like them. Did he scream like a little girl." The other joined in.

"Of course, I would've kept his arm for a decoration, but it was too disgusting. Why would I keep a human arm. They aren't worth that much." The other laughed as they walked far away.

When I was sure they were long gone, I let go of Yuu. He was mad again. "Damn those vampires!" He shouted.

"Calm down Yuu. Come on, let's just go home. The others will get worried." I tried to convince him to come home. He huffed then turned and headed back towards home. I followed behind.

It took a few minutes, but we arrived. Yuu walked in first, I followed. "We're back." I announced.

"Yuu! Keiko! Welcome home." Akane welcomed us back as did the others. There was curry sitting at the table.

"Akane how did you get the food for this?" I asked. She smiled.

"Mika got it for us!" She told me. That's why he keeps going to Ferid. I had heard if you let a noble feed off you, you can get things in return. That made me mad. "Anyway, let's all eat!" She shouted. Everyone gathered around the table.

We knew Mika wouldn't be home till later so we all started to eat. Yuu didn't touch his food. It worries me when he gets like that. It hurts enough that he doesn't accept us as family.

We all finished eating, washed up and headed off to bed. I laid in the blanket that was my so called bed. We had to sleep on the floor. Though, I was having trouble sleeping tonight. I looked around and everyone was asleep, except Yuu. We slept arms distance away from each other.

"Yuu." I whispered. He shifted a bit and then looked at me.

"What Keiko?" He asked.

"Are you thinking about Mika again?" I asked. He took a second.

"Of course, that idiot can't take care of himself." He replied. I laughed a bit.

"If I recall correctly, you're the one who can't take care of himself. You're worried, I get it. I am too." I sat up.

"Shut up. I can take care of myself." He argued.

"No you can't." I taunted. He sat up.

"I can." He continued.

"You wish" I taunted. He lightly punched my arm. I laughed a bit and he joined in. Suddenly, the door creaked open. Mika stepped through trying to be quiet. Yuu got up and went over to him. I watched from where I was. They talked for awhile.

Mika showed Yuu something that I couldn't see, but Mika told him it was a map and gun. He wanted to escape tonight. They both agreed. That's was our worst decision. We all ended up leaving. We had to sneak through the streets to get to the exit.

Something didn't feel right. No one was guarding the exit. It was almost too easy. Before I could express my worry with everyone else they started heading to the exit.

"Guys wait it's too eas..." Suddenly a laugh filled the room. I'd know that horrible laugh anywhere. Ferid. He jumped down from somewhere up above. That's when it all went to hell. Ferid attacked us one by one. Killing us. Yuu yelled at us to run, but Ferid took us each down. Even Akane. We were so close. Why? Mika pulled the gun on Ferid, but Ferid stabbed him straight through.

"MIKA!!" I screamed. He fell to the ground. Ferid looked to me. Fear set in. Though, he didn't notice Yuu grab the gun. When he noticed it was too late. Yuu shot him straight in the head. Ferid fell. Dead, or so we thought.

I ran over to Mika. "Mika! Mika! Stay alive! We will...we..we.." I panicked. Yuu came up to Mika as well. He screamed at him. Mika begged us to leave. To survive. For him. I refused and so did Yuu. Until Mika finally convinced Yuu. Yuu grabbed my hand and forced me to leave. That was the last time I saw my family alive.

We left the city and were found by a group of humans. The moon demon corporation who saved us. It was Guren who saved us.

4 years would pass before I knew it.
