It's 8 am at the studio and as I'm warming up I see Emily and Stephanie talking. I can tell that they're talking about their plan. What on earth could it be? I didn't dare ask.
Emily gathers everyone together to tell us how we are going to run the auditions. She tells us that we are all going to perform a solo and while we are doing it, she and Steph will be deciding where to put us in our lines. I hope Michelle gets front row because she's a really good dancer.
Nearly all of us performed our solos great. And I mean nearly, because when it was my turn, I did badly. It wasn't good enough for front row not even middle row. I knew I would be in the back row. Emily tells us she's got our line places written down and she's going to get Miss Kate's approval. So she and Steph goes into Miss Kate's office to show her the line places. From what they're saying I can tell that they are talking to Miss Kate and Chris about something completely different. Yes I can lipread. That's one of my secret talents.
Finally Emily and Steph come back out of Miss Kate's office and she's about to tell us our places, in our lines, for Regionals.
I'm so nervous. I'm can feel myself shaking. Emily tells us where we all are. I can't remember where the other dancers were placed but I do know where Michelle was placed. She was going to be in the back row for Regionals and me in the front. That's not right. Michelle's solo was a LOT better than mine. Hers was front row material and mine was back row material.
This has got to be was Emily and Stephanie had planned. I don't think Emily realises that if we don't have our best dancer in the front row, we aren't going to win Regionals and that's what Emily wants more than anything. However she wants to be mean to Michelle too. If we don't win Regionals this year because Michelle's in the back row, Emily is going to take it out on her, which really won't be fair.
