It's not about money, it's about power.

"Welcome to Grisdale, we hope you have fun and enjoy your time here. Here's your timetables and please feel free to ask if you have any questions" the old lady smiled warmly at us. She had young assistant, here boobs hanging out and a face caked with orange make up. She kept on staring at Chase seductivly. He gave her a wink and she smiled at him. "Yea, you guys head to class I'm gonna 'build bridges'" he smiled at the assistant again. I shook my head and grabbed his arm and dragged him to first lesson, math again.

"What the hell dude? You said i could!" He whined. "Yea, but it's bad if you don't even turn up to your first class. Come on" i pushed him through the door and he stumbled in, he straightened up and smiled cheekily. Some girls started straightening up and pulling down their shirts. I made a gesture for the others to walk in first, they went in and there were more gasps, whispers and even a whole whistle. Jeb glared at the guy who whistled, the guy nearly needed a change of pants.

I took a deep breath in and walked in, this one girl nearly launched herself on me. "Hey my names Carrie if you need anything, i mean anything" she winked her caked face forming cracks "find me" she licked her lips and i looked at the others for help but they were too busy filming it and cracking up laughing. On the end i just said "sure... Erm... Thanks, fancy erm, letting me go?!" She looked down to realize that she had me pressed up against the wall, me trying to back away from her had left me trapped. I could see a slight blush through the layers of make up and she backed away.

Other than a few glances back from 'Carrie' the lesson was boring. It was stuff we had all leant years ago, so we texted each other and listened to music the whole lesson. The teacher seemed not to notice, or just not bother.

At the end of the lesson Carrie stopped me from walking out by putting her hand out. "So, i was talking with my friends and we decided we could let you sit with us." She honestly thought i would want to sit with her and her minions. "Yeah, about that..." I rubbed the back of my neck "oh, come on Aiden! Please" she begged. Wait what? Aiden? "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST SAY?" I shouted at her, how dare she say Aidens name. I looked into her eyes, i felt the lack of control and new Chase was out. I have to gain control, he will hurt her if he snaps. "Your jacket, your names Aiden right" i took a breath and slid down the wall. I brought my knees up to my chest. I buried my head and took deep breaths.

"What's wrong?" She asked. "Just leave us alone!" Chase snapped got up and walked out. The girl looked like she was about to cry. When i get control back, i need to go apologize. I made my way outside to the bleachers. I took a seat and watched people training for football. I completely forgot i was wearing Aids jacket. It felt like it was already a part of me. "Hey, what you doing round here?" A voice asked. I looked up to see a scruffy boy with blazing green eyes and brown hair. He wasn't muscular but still had a little muscle. Handsome, but in a quite way. "Needed to breathe" i replied. "Oh yeah, i forgot about the transfers, sorry" he smiled apolegetecly. "Nah, it's cool. If i saw the enemy on my grounds i would ask questions too" he smiled and then frowned. "Who said you were the enemy? Your just healthy competition" he done an impersonation of someone which made me smile. "Since you asked a question, my turn. Why you out of class?" He looked down and grimaced. "Well, i got phys ed and i don't really feel like it, and i forgot my kit. " he started to shuffle his feet around, he was lying. "Cool" was all i said. It's his secret to keep. We just sat in silence for a while, not an awkward silence. A comfortable silence. Like the ones me and Aiden shared.

What felt like seconds later, the bell rang. "Well, i should probably go, Ryder by the way" he smiled. "Caleb." We smiled and went to our next class, we found out that we both have Mr Bucks next for philosophy. Apparently he's a bitch for tardiness. So we hurried. But the bell went off as we were walking into the building. Ryder went into the classroom first and got an earful from him about getting out, that's when i said "sorry, I'm afraid i got lost and Ryder showed me the way. So if you're going to shout at anyone it should be me" i stood up straight and went to my full height of around 6ft. "Are you trying to intimidate me?" He asked in annoyance. "No, I'm just waiting for you to shout at me. " i said. "Just go take a seat next to your new freind" he muttered and i turned to take my seat when he started the lesson. "Gang violence." Oh shit. "What causes people to feel the need to form or join a violent and bad group of people? Also why are they so territorial and pack like?" He began. I dropped my head against the table. I didn't need an hour of this guy saying i was a bad person. "Sorry is there something you wish to share with the class? Or are you already condemning my teaching skills?" He raised an eyebrow and the whole classes eyes where on me. I wish the others were in this class. Come on man up. Chase was threatening to stab him, so i need to keep calm. "Well, philosophy is meant to be more than a one sided argument, and from what I've gathered so far. You hate gangs. You hate everything they stand for and what they do. So this isn't a philosophy class, this is what Mr Buck thinks about the world. And no offence, I'm not jumping over the moon with it. " i sighed. He scowled "ok, give tell me why gangs are happy places with bunny pictures!"

"Well, no.1 they aren't but they sure as hell are better than the real world. If your loyal, you have nothing to fear. It's not like movies where they're asking for trouble. In my old neighborhood, crime rates were real high. People didn't leave their house unless they had to. That was until the gang took control. Crime went down massively. People weren't scared because people weren't waiting round corners to beat them up. No one wanted to cause trouble. It wasn't worth it." I told him the truth, it was way worse when the gang wasn't there. When they stole my iPod, they also felt the need to stab me. I didn't go to the hospital. I just went home and cleaned it up. It left a scar but it's a bit faded but i know it will never truly go away.

"So the gangs stopped crime, so they can commit more crime! Wouldn't you rather no crime?" He asked
"You don't get it do you?! There is no world without crime. If you gather up a random amount of people and ask if they have ever committed a crime, how small it is. Most of them would raise their hands. So yeah, i would prefer a few drugs knocking around rather then being scared about being beaten up or killed every time i leave my house!" I was getting pissed now and Chase was too. He was offending us, Franco, Jace and the rest of the gang. No way am i letting him getting away with that.

"Do you know why gangs are so bad? They ruin millions of lives!" He was almost shouting.
"Yeah, and other things don't? Primarks factories force pregnant women to work! Girls as young as 9! Poverty ruins peoples lives! People have to live on the streets because some kid can afford an xbox. The beauty industry could feed the world. But no, people would rather cake themselves in makeup instead. Leaving people to die! So before you blame the worlds problems on one thing, find something worth while." I said. He seemed lost for words. I guess no one really argued with him before. The bell wrung and students began to file out. I smiled at Ryder, and we began to walk out before a voice called to me. "Yes, sir?" i said. "Good work today, not a great cause to fight for but, very good. By the way, you might want to cover up your gang tattoo before you bump into any strangers" i nodded smiled and walked out.

"You're in a gang?" Ryder asked "dude i need to ask you something!?"
