Chapter 1:

(Daisy's POV)

"Excuse me!" I spoke trying to get through the crowd as quick as possible. I know that Paul was following me from the plane as soon as I took a step off it. I ran through the crowd, my suitcase getting stuck in the crowd making me pull at it harder. I felt frantic as my worst nightmare was running after me, chasing me to confront my past.

"Daisy, Stop running!" Paul pleaded which hurt to hear. I tried to ignore him as I managed to get the main exit. It would be easier for him if I left, he doesn't need to be involved with me or get stuck in the web of confusion and heartbreak. Once I was out of the group of people blocking my way, I gripped a hold of my new identity before running even faster now that I wasn't stuck. I turned briefly to see Paul stop just outside the door heartbroken and lost; the look I've seen so many times still left me with the same numbing feeling inside. I was so involved in taking in my last look of Paul, I didn't see where I was going and ended up falling on top of someone.

"Oh my, i'm so sorry" I said trying to get up fast. I looked up to see the most bright blue orbs glowing back at me. I shook my head getting out of the gaze and picked up my belongings from the floor.

"No it's my fault" He said, helping me up from the floor. As I felt our hands slide together, I glanced up to him as I felt an electric shock go through our hands making me gasp, pulling my hand back.

"Thank you" I replied, looking around cautiously for Paul.

"It's no problem" He commented. I saw that he was wearing an Army uniform and that was my queue to go, the last thing I needed is chit chat with law enforcement. I smiled and walked past him and carried on my path out of the airport away from Paul. As I was walking away, I heard a name being shouted making me turn around.

"Charlie!" The man who I had just bumped into shouted, how did he know my fake name?

"How did you know my-" I asked as I saw him holding up my fake drivers license.

"Oh" I murmured as he handed it to me.

"Yeah, you must have dropped it" He explained trying to keep a conversation going. I blushed a little at his attempts but I remembered that I had to keep a distance just in case I had to do a runner because of Paul.

"Thank you" I stated placing it into my bag for more security.

"I'm Dan - Daniel" He stuttered as we locked in eye contact once more, I smiled by his nervousness of the situation.

"Charlie ... but you already knew that." I laughed smiling. In a weird and unusual way, the connection and our conversation felt natural but I knew I needed to go.

"Dan, it was nice meeting you but I really must go" I explained trying not to sound rude, but I knew that if I would have carried on the conversation, I wouldn't be able to tare myself away.

"No sure" He said grinning whilst he adjusted his bag on his shoulder. I turned around trying to hide my blushing and carried on walking towards a taxi until I was stopped yet again by him calling my name, a name i'm going to have to start getting used too.

"Charlie!" He shouted making me turn around again, he hadn't moved from where he was stood, but he looked a little lost too.

"I don't have your number" He shouted making me smile as his grin got bigger.

"That's because I didn't give you one" I said trying to hold in the laughter. I turned around to get in a taxi, sliding in my suitcase and myself.

"Where to ma'am?" The driver asked as I took out my destination from the papers I had and letting him know. I was looking forward to be seeing my mother on the end of the crazy journey here.  Looking out the window as we began driving away, I saw Dan stare at the Taxi as if he had never been rejected by someone before.

As I was watching him, I saw an upset and angry Paul run out to Daniel's side in a huff and frantically looking around trying to find me. I felt terrible for what I had done to him, even though I said my goodbyes to him, it would hurt to loose a good friend.

The taxi came to a stop and I paid the fare before I got out and took my things with me. I looked up at the apartment block and it was like something I had seen in the pictures. How did my mother find this place? I carried on into the building with the doorman coming up to me, helping me with my suitcase.

"Ms Brook?" His Russian accent spoke.

"Yes?" I asked not to sure of how I should respond. He nodded and took my suitcase.

"Follow me Ms" He said guiding me towards an elevator. I couldn't help but think of Dan at the airport and wonder if I was too harsh on him by embarrassing him like that. But when the elevator doors flew open, the screams of my mother ripped me out of my thoughts.

"Welcome to your new home!" She squeezed running up to me hugging me before I could get out of the elevator. The doorman even struggled to squeeze past us to get the suitcase into the apartment.

"Let me look at you child" She stated taking a step out of the elevator to look at me. I smiled a bit embarrassed, especially in front of the doorman.

"Mother please" I stated leaving the elevator so I could see the apartment I would be living in for the next 5 years.

"Anything else Ma'am?" The doorman asked my mother.

"Not at the moment Nikolay, but thank you any way" She answered.  He nodded before leaving in the elevator. Walking more into the apartment, I noticed it was already fitted with all an apartment's necessity's. There was glass windows on every wall around the apartment that went up above to the second floor, the living room in front in the open space with walnut flooring and the dining room to the left, the kitchen near the entrance and the dining room, with a large wooden with glass staircase in the centre of the apartment.

"Happy birthday my darling" My mother said as she came in front of me and hugged me tightly.
