Chapter 7:
(Daisy / Charlie's POV)
*Flashback to 1813*
I awoke in a hospital bed taking a deep breath in as I wasn't breathing the whole time as I was laid down next to my mother. Trying to remember how we were both arrived here in a bed baffled me, The aim last night was to get my mother here so she wouldn't die. My bones felt bruised and my body ached was a distraction that was being caused but my main priority was my mother. I panicked all of a sudden, trying to roll myself out of the metallic framed bed to see if she was well.
"Mother!" I exasperated in pain as I moved to be by her side. I took her hand and placed it in a cocoon of mine and I put them to lips letting out tears. My other hand moved the hair that was resting on her cheeks to move it away to show her true beauty.
"Mother" I cried whispering my deepest fear. My felt deep stricken pain not wanting to believe what was in front of me. I kissed my cocooned hands as I whimpered away.
"Daisy!" I heard a familiar male voice call out to me, sounding relieved. I turned around to see my husband John Packington, dressed in his formal wear looking overwhelmed to see me.
"John!" I said pushing up to my feet as we ran towards each other, embracing one and another so happy to see each other.
"When I heard the news, I came straight to see you" He said placing kissed on my cheek, placing his hands on the waist of my dress.
"She's gone" I stated as the tears drowned my eyes and fell onto his chest.
"Oh no" He murmured pulling me in closer to his chest and cried harder. A doctor approached my mother making me turn to face that direction as well as forcing myself to escape John's grasp.
"Daisy" He said trying to hold me back as they got the cotton sheet and covered her body.
"No!" I shouted making them pay attention to scene I was making.
"Mrs Packington" Another doctor said approaching us as John wrapped his arms around my waist to pull me back so I wouldn't do anything I would further regret.
"What are they doing to her, Leave her alone!" I shouted not wanting to believe the truth.
"You both had a severe crash resulting in you both being found in an unconscious in the lake. You need to rest." He explained trying to tell me the situation.
"My mother is dead. I cannot rest. I will not rest" I cried out leaning my hand back onto John's chest.
"She was on her death bed prior to the accident also. From her medical history, even if she were to survive, she would have been preventing the inevitable." He rudely explained.
"That's is enough." John spoke up from the doctor's rude and uncalled for comments.
"I am surprised you had survived due to the Eels in the water anyhow. You are the medical enigma of this whole hospital" he added curiously looking me up and down wanting to know more due to his delusional mind.
"If you would be so kind to leave us be, your rudeness and lack of intelligence is disturbingly frightening, especially considering you are the ape this hospital decided to place in charge." John stated not wanting the doctor in his presence. I turned around and cried some more on his shoulder finding the whole situation hurtful.
"I am so sorry my love" He spoke soothing me in the middle of a walk way surrounded by other sick and ill patients.
"I want to leave. I want to see Annabeth and rest this to bed." I said taking a step aback from him to regain my thoughts. My dearest daughter Annabeth, How would I explain this to her? I did not want to explain this to her. John took my hand and placed a kiss on top of it lightly.
"As you wish" He commented as he took my hand in his intertwining our hands.
"I..." I turned to my mothers directions placing my free hand over my mouth.
"... I need to say goodbye" I whispered looking at the discolored white sheet over her body. This is not how she will be laid to rest I told myself as I walked over with John over to her body. I pulled back the sheet and saw her face. She didn't look dead to see, she looked as if she were sleeping soundlessly awaiting to be awoken. I took one hand from the sheet and place my palm flat on her face still feeling it's warmth. That is strange, her face should not be warm.
"John" I sniffled
"What is wrong?" He asked as I touched her head which was burning up.
"She is burning up." I commented taking my hand from her face, leaving the sheet on her chest. He too placed his hand on her forehead flat just as confused as myself as to why she was this hot.
"I don't understand" he commented checking her pulse. I took a step back, beginning to cough uncontrollably. I took a seat on the bed next to my mothers bending over as the pain began throughout my body. John took his attention from my mother and joined me in my condition.
"Daisy my love what is happening?" He asked placing his hand on my back tapping it lightly to make me cough more.
"I do not know" I answered. All of a sudden as I looked up to meet his eyes, he looked like he was taken aback from something, was it something I had said?
"Your eyes. They are black. Like a demon" He commented. My eyes were black? How? What was he telling me? They felt fine. My thoughts were disturbed when my mother sat up making me and John jump out of our skin, as she inhaled gasping for air, holding tight of her chest. She took the sheet away from her face and showed us that she had opened her eyes to reveal her black eyes.
"Mother?" I asked rushing to her, taking her hand. I watched as her eyes turned from black to her original eye colour. I turned to John who's body language was emitting an anxious emotion, he like myself and my mother were scared. What had happened to us?
