Chapter 8:
(Daniel's POV)
"No that's Daisy." He argued not believing what I had told him.
"Okay but why would she lie about her name?" I asked putting my hands in my pockets.
"I can't say. It's not my place. Anyway i'll catch up with you soon, I need to go find her." He said tapping me on the shoulder.
"I'm coming with you, I want to know if she's okay." I stated following behind him as she walked away in the same direction Ella left.
"Trust me Dan, you don't want to get involved in this." He said trying to get me of his trail but I wasn't going to let her go the way she did. She seemed upset and frankly odd when Paul came into the picture. Something wasn't right about how she reacted and I wanted to know why. And to be fair, when I first met her in the airport, she was running away then so was she running away from Paul? I needed answers and the only way I would get them would be from Paul.
"I don't want her to be in any danger okay?" I stated making him stop and turn around. He looked at me in sympathy for some reason before he replied.
"Okay fine." He said agreeing to me following him.

We had been in the waiting room in the hospital for an hour, finding out that Charlie's mom had died. I couldn't imagine what she was going through, no wonder she ran of the way she did, I would too if I had heard the news about my mom. In the corner of my eyes, I saw her walk towards us, arms crossed and puffy faced. She looked dead, broken mostly, and all I wanted to do was fix her. Me and Paul stood up simultaneously, Paul having the first word.
"Daisy i'm so sorry about your mom." Paul said. I could tell that her mind was elsewhere but it was understandable, that was until she spoke bringing herself out of her thoughts.
"How did you know I would be here?" she asked looking at both of us.
"We kind of looked everywhere after you ran away." I replied watching her wipe away the tears under her eyes. She closed her eyes tightly trying to conceal the tears but she didn't need to do that around us.
"Why did you come here?" She asked sounding surprised that we made the effort.
"We were worried about you. I've been worried about you, when you ran-" Paul said about to start something that really wasn't the best time to start it.
"I don't think this is the best time." I interrupted. He looked towards me giving me a look telling me to shut up, but he knew I was right, this was not the time, this was not the place.
"I should get back, I only came to get a drink." She said fidgeting around obviously eager to get back to her mom.
"Daisy we do need to talk at some point." Paul said trying to carry on what he wanted to say making me roll my eyes. Does he really not get that this isn't the best time?
"But not right now" She stated turning around, walking away from us. Once she was out of sight, I turned hitting Paul's chest slightly,
"Are you kidding me? What was that about?" I asked getting bit pissed. What was his problem? Is what he has to say really that important to interrupt her grieving?
"What the hell man?" He reacted.
"Her mom's died, show a little common respect for her." I stated basically telling him off.
"I know and I feel bad for her but we need to talk." He replied completely ignoring what was said, still focusing on his issue.
"What's so important anyway?" I asked.
"I can't really say but the thing is, I've been looking for her for ages, trying to get ahold of her and when I finally do... I just need to tell her something important and then I'll be out of her hair." He explained. I could tell that he had been trying to reach out to her for a while, but my question was why she wasn't answering him?
"Well let's leave her today and try and talk to her tomorrow alright? If you really want, come here tomorrow morning, just give her some space okay?" I suggested trying to polite about the situation. He rolled his eyes obviously not liking what I said before he huffed, agreeing with me.
"Okay fine but if I can't get ahold of her tomorrow then I'm done." He said shoving his hands down his pockets.
"Alright let's go, hospitals freak me out" I said as we both began to leave, heading towards the exit.
"They're not my favourite place either" He commented.
"So where do you live now?" I asked starting conversation as a way of distracting him of the main subject.
"Detriot Michigan what about you? You still living here?" He asked going along with it.
"Yeah still am. I'm not usually here, I've come home for a bit but I'm going to he dispatched somewhere soon." I said talking about my work.
"Oh yeah you're in the Navy right?" He asked
"The army." i corrected.
"Wrong one. How's that's going? Must be tough going away from all this." He said as we walked out of the building.
"It can be. It's hard at times but once I get back into the routine it's okay I guess. What are you doing with your life?" I explained, asking him about himself.
"I've gone into my writing, it's not as life fulfilling as what you do but I'm good at what I do." He stated trying to out himself down.
"As long as you enjoy it that's all that matters." I commented. I looked at my watch needing to be heading off. I still need to talk to Lara about whats going on in my head and how I feel about the relationship now I'm back.
"We'll I should be heading off so I'll probably see you tomorrow" I said backing away.
"Yeah me too. In a bit." He commented also backing away. I turned around and began heading home to the troubles that awaited me there.
