The Men Who Shouted Numbers

I took the key out and examined it while walking towards the other rooms. It was really shiny when I wiped the blood off. It looked like a typical key, nothing special about it. Until I pulled the bottom of it. The bottom of the key popped off and in place there was a blade. It was key, and at the same time a weapon. I loved it. In my mind I thanked the boy that had the paper and key. He had saved my life. I put the key cap back on and shoved it in my pocket.  Many rooms were just cells with metal walls. Finally I got to a room with a wooden desk and chair. The desk had nothing on it but 3 computers. Each computer showed camera view. From here I can see everything in every room. I even saw myself in one of the screens. I waved at the camera and laughed. I was about to get relaxed when one of the cameras caught my eye. A huge group of people crowded in one of the hallways. Everyone was so squished that there was almost no space in between each other. But there was something really creepy about the people. They were all holding weapons and looking directly at the camera."I KNOW YOU ARE THERE" one of them screamed. I heard from the microphone next the the computers. I almost jumped. "WE WILL FIND YOU" one said. "AND WE WILL KILL YOU" another completed the sentence. Are they talking to me? How do they know I'm here? I continued to watch the screens. The massive group began to run straight. I'm guessing the man had pressed an emergency button somehow and it alerted his army to come and get me. I panicked. I didn't know what to do. I looked around, and can already hear footsteps stomping towards me. I spotted a really small door that was hard to see. I twisted the handle, but it was locked. I took my key out and put it in the keyhole. It fit perfectly, so I hid inside the squished space and waited for something to happen. As the footsteps got closer, I took the old note out and read the back. It said, "this key/ knife can open any hid

I waited in the corner and heard the men dart into the hideout.  I heard them say numbers and getting surprised when they saw the man in the cage.  While a pair of men locked the man up, others looked throughout the hideout.  I could hear them coming toward me with some kind of heat-sensor that was sensing me.  I could tell that there were two men right in the other side of the wall.  They shouted more numbers as they kicked the door to my room.

I panicked even more. My palms were sweaty and I didn't know what to do. Instinctively, I took my key knife out and got ready to kill. But what I needed right now was safety. There were about 50 men trying to kill me and there's only one of me, trapped in a small space with almost no room to move. I pulled the doorknob towards myself so it would be hard to open it from outside. But then I realized. They can't see me from outside. I am behind this door. So they don't know if I am really in here. But they do have a heat censor, and I will take it to my advantage. I took 1 layer off. Underneath my shirt was a tank top, so I wouldn't be naked if I took my shirt off. I warmed up the shirt by holding it close to me and set it down in the corner of the tiny space I was in. I looked up and saw a hinge. This meant I am able to move upwards. I unlocked the door above me and left the small space with only my shirt inside. I locked it, and the second I did, I heard the door blast open. They were right below me. They shouted numbers again, but they were deceived by my trick. I made my shirt warm so that they would think that their censor had detected a shirt, not a girl. The men below me shuffled out of the room and I waited until their footsteps completely faded away. I sighed and crawled forward.

When I continued on the vents, there was one leading outside.  I looked out from that vent to make sure no-one was there and went out the vent.  I realized I was in the red forest and I breathed in the bloody air.  I felt refreshed, but I couldn't stop now.  I sprinted back home.

I looked at the huge clock on the face of the school and saw that it was 4pm. There were only a few people outside. People glanced at me but didn't stare. I ran to my dorm. A teacher told me to slow down, but I kept running. Some of the rooms didn't have enough room for 2 people, so some people didn't have roomies. I was one of them. I loved coming back to my dorm. The familiar smell of my dorm filled my lungs and I decided to wash myself up. In the shower the water became a little red from the blood on my skin. I had to hold back a scream when the soap and water seeped into my hand cut. After the shower I dried myself, dressed up, and brushed my hair into a ponytail. My flower had fallen out of my hair, but I can always go back. The Red Forest wasn't that far from my high school. I turned on the television and the first channel that popped up was my favorite channel: the news. I loved to be informed about what was happening in places I have no access to. Nothing special was happening except a plane crash, burglary, and some dog adoption event in San Francisco. I turned the tv off and sat on the corner of my bed. There was nothing to do. I was only gone for about 2 days, no big deal. I can just say I felt sick and couldn't go to class. I took my key out and washed it. I then put the note in my desk drawer and the key on my night stand. I went to sleep right after, knowing that tomorrow might be a big day.
