You were wide awake, furiously typing away on your laptop at one in the morning. You had a report to pass tomorrow about some exotic plant, and you desperately needed just one more paragraph.
"Come on, come on," you whined, impatiently tapping on the table as you waited for the page to load. As you placed your arm on the desk with your chin on your palm, you heard someone tossing and turning in bed.
Worriedly, you looked back to see your boyfriend, Ty, clutching on the bed sheets with beads of sweat on his forehead. You immediately stood up, walked towards, sat on the bed as you, held his hand, and whispered sweet nothings to calm him down.
The man calmed down and let out a shaky sigh. Ty's eyes opened slowly as you stared at each other in silence.
"You had a nightmare," you explain, sitting on the free space on his bed, "What happened?"
He sat up and wiped the sweat off his forehead.
"I-I... We were just walking around the park, enjoying each others' company until someone took you away from me. I c-couldn't get you back," and with that, he laid back down, but with his gaze still on you.
Hearing how his voice cracked hurt your heart. You didn't and never wanted your boyfriend to feel this way.
You laid own and faced him, staring into his eyes as he did the same. You also squeezed his hand to reassure him. He relaxed and smiled faintly at you.
"You're like a dream?"
"Hm?"
"A dream," Ty repeated, then turned to face the ceiling.
"I don't know. Whenever you have a dream, it seems perfect and anything good can happen in it. You're one of the best things that's ever happened to me."
You let out a giggle and snuggled closer to him. The man laughed and closed his eyes.
"Yeah, that sounded pretty cheesy," he said and, with a sigh, fell asleep.
You kissed his forehead, whispered a "Goodnight" then propped yourself up (without waking him up, of course) and quietly go back to continue writing.
