This oneshot is based on (take a guess from my recent obsessions)

The Nightmare Before Christmas

So if you've seen the movie, I'm taking it and kind of twisting it my own way so that the theme and characters work and everything.

Enjoy!

Maya's POV

I stitched up my arm for the final time, hopefully. Dr. Minkustein ripped it off again. I sighed. Maybe you should stop trying to poison him! Anyway, I just hate living in Halloweentown. I heard that there were such things as Christmas and Valentine's Day and Thanksgiving and St. Patrick's Day lands! Can you believe it?

I'm leaving Halloweentown as soon as I can. I know I'm supposed to be a rag doll and everything, but I don't feel like an innocent little rag doll. I like scheming, pulling stuff on people, like when the pumpkin king rode through town. I threw my arm at him and I slapped him with it. Ha! The sucker didn't even know what hit 'em.

Lucas Skellington was set to become the pumpkin king at the coronation today. Everyone called him Jack because he's the greatest jack-o-lantern carver there is and for some reason, everyone calls me Sally. Wait, I haven't even introduced myself yet.

My name is Maya Ann Minkustein. Doctor Stuart F. Minkustein stitched me up in a lab, where he also created many of his famous creations. Ever since I was made, I've been a slave to Minkustein, cooking and cleaning everywhere. Sometimes, I'll sneak poison into his soup. He then punishes me by ripping one of my limbs off and making me spend time with his son (clone), Farkle Minkustein. He was made so if I ran away, Dr. Minkustein could have someone to feed him. Farkle is a little weirdo who kind of creeps me out. He likes me and I don't like him back.

Then, of course, is my story about Lucas Skellington.

Lucas is a 15 Halloween-old like me. He isn't the normal skeleton and I'm not the normal doll. He looks like a normal skeleton to humans, but to me, he looks like a fifteen year-old human boy with tan skin, green eyes, and dark blonde hair.

To humans, we all look strange. The creatures in town say I have long blonde hair, blue eyes, and nice pale skin, but all I see is light blue fabric and hair made of long yarn.

Lucas and I met on my 10th Halloween. I was wandering around when I saw a little ghost puppy. Lucas came around and I realized that that was his dog, Zero. We talked for a while and realized how similar we are. I now realize that we are great friends.

Sometimes I wish I had a heart that wasn't made of silk. Sometimes I feel that I do have a heart. I feel happy. I feel warm and fuzzy. I feel like the mayor, Cory, when his face turns around all the time. I feel it when I'm with Lucas.

I snuck down to Dr. Minkustein's lab and grabbed fabric, a needle, and thread. I used a simple pattern and measured, cut, and sewed a new dress for Lucas' coronation.

I slipped the dress over the dress that was sewn on. It was baby pink with little lavender accents. To add a touch of creepy, I found a black and purple spider and asked it to pull some of my hair back. She said yes and swept a front portion of my hair up.

I snuck out the window and walked into town for the coronation. I frowned with realization. If Lucas became pumpkin king, we'd never see each other. I could never be with a king. I was just an old doll!

I felt that sense of feeling again. This time, it wasn't a good feeling. It felt like when Dr. Minkustein ripped off one of my limbs for accidentally forgetting to wash the test tubes or when kids are throwing heads in their front yard and one accidentally hits you.

I would call this new feeling... sadness.

I sat near the fountain in the town, watching the green fluid go through the spout over and over again. I could barely watch when the mayor took the pumpkin off of Bruce Skellington. As the mayor was about to place it on Lucas' head, I stood up.

"Wait!"

Heads turned toward me. The threads in my knees felt as loose as ever now.

"I don't know why I'm doing this, but I can't let Lucas become the pumpkin king."

"Well, why not?" The mayor questioned.

"Because I think that hearts made of silk can feel too. I think that Lucas Skellington is a wonderful person who deserves a happy life with whoever he chooses because I'm leaving. If he chooses Halloweentown and everyone in it, fine. If he chooses me, fine. Say the magic words and I'll take you with me."

Lucas ran to me. "I choose you, my darling."

I smiled. "Then we shall run away from this world of unemotional creatures and live around people with vivid imaginations and talents."

He brushed a hair from my face. "That sounds splendid. We shall be gone by the time the moon shines."

"We should spend our entire lives together." I stated.

"Yes we should." He replied.

"Because-" I started.

We started to speak in union. "-we are simply meant to be.
