Growing Up

Olivia's POV

Its nine am on a Saturday morning and I got a call so I had to run into work. I had no babysitter available and Elliot's not back from an undercover case he's working so I packed a bag for my little princess and brought her along with me to work, when I walked into the office my detectives were already there working on paperwork that needs to be filed. I had the chief of police waiting in my office and a restless four year old that wouldn't let me put her down so I sat her on my lap while I spoke with the police chief then I went into the squadroom with my detectives. Sofia walked near one of the new detectives desk and detective Rollins said "aren't you the cutest little thing I've ever seen. My name is Amanda, what's yours?"

Sofia: my mommy said not to talk to strangers, mommy no leave me

I would never. Its ok to talk to Amanda, mommy's going to get some coffee and I will be back in a minute. Fin do you mind keeping an eye on her? She's very active

Fin: go get your coffee liv, I'll watch her

I went into the break room and started making a pot of coffee leaving Sofia with fin

Amanda's POV

I looked at the beautiful blue eyed baby girl with long dark hair laughing with my new partner fin and it was precious. She's so cute and I had no idea my new boss had any kids although I don't know much about her yet. I just got here a week ago and things have been hectic around here. The little girl came up to me when her ball rolled under my desk and she said "can I get my ball back please? It fell under your feet" I gave her the ball then she said"my name is Sofia" and she ran back to fin who tossed the ball back and forth with her until the sergeant returned

Olivia: no playing in the office princess, you know the rules

Sofia: I sorry mommy. Can we go play on the park? I want to bounce my ball

Olivia: mommy has work to do, we can bounce your ball later. Your babysitter's not picking up so you'll have to stay with me today. Will you help mommy work?

Sofia: yes mommy, I help you catch bad guys

Olivia: alright you go in my office and set up your toys so we can play together then o will take you with me to catch the bad guys

Sofia: ok mommy, she went running into the sergeant's office with her little backpack

Olivia: jasmine picked the wrong day to skip work, sofia needs a babysits for tonight and one I can trust, digging into their lives will take to long and I can't leave her with just anyone

I'm not doing anything tonight, I'd be happy to help out with her, she seems like a great kid

Olivia: that's so nice of you but they say I'm an overprotective mom so I can't leave her with someone I've just met. Its been a week and i don't really know anything about you detective Rollins

That's smart but I'm a good person. I'm single, I live alone. All my family and friends are back in Atlanta Georgia so I'm on my own here. Your my boss, you read my file and approved the transfer up here so something must have been right

Olivia: you make a good point. If Sofia's ok with you we'll give it a shot. Its my husband's birthday and I wanted to take him out to dinner tonight, we won't be long.

Later that evening at elliot and Olivia's house

Elliot's POV

I heard the doorbell ring and went to answer it. Standing at my door was a dark haired man and a blonde haired woman they introduced themselves as detectives Amanda Rollins and Nick Amaro so I invited them both in just as my wife walked down stairs wearing a breath taking beautiful red dress. She walked over to the two detectives and said "oh, I thought it would just be Amanda tonight but I guess two is better than one. Sofia's up in her room getting dressed and thank you both for doing this"

Amanda: it's our pleasure

Sofia ran downstairs wearing her princess outfit and her mom picked her up and said "your the prettiest princess I've ever seen, but I took out your pajamas because its bedtime"

Sofia: Mommy I want to play princess. I'm not tired, I want to play

Olivia: ok well I'm going to leave you here to play with nick and Amanda for a while, are you going to be ok staying with them?

Sofia: mommy I'm a big girl, I can stay. Bye bye daddy

Bye little princess. I think mommy's the one who has a hard time leaving you behind. When you were little you used to have the cutest sad face when your crying for her and now your a big girl and you don't cry anymore

Sofia: mommy if I had a baby sister or brother they would cry for you all the time. Liv laughed and set sofia down then she said "your really not giving up on this sister or brother thing are you? Goodbye Sofia"

Sofia waved goodbye and we left out to the restaurant where I sat across from the most beautiful woman in the world. Looking onto her eyes I fell more and more in love with her each day. She planned this special dinner for us that was perfect but it was hard to focus because of the day I had. I didn't want to upset her and ruin the lovely dinner she planned for us so I decided not to mention it. We sat through an amazing dinner bit she started to notice how distracted I was so she asked "ell what's wrong? It seems like you have something else on your mind" I told her that everything was fine and she obviously didn't believe me but she decided to leave it alone tonight. After dinner we went home to find sofia running around with the two detectives laughing who immediately stopped when they saw us.

Olivia: it looks like you had a lot of fun here sofia

Sofia: mommy it was lots and lots of fun. We played hide and seek, then we had a princess tea party. Mommy it was so much fun. Can they stay?

Olivia: nick and amanda has to go home and I can see how tired you are so how about I tuck you into bed and read you a bedtime story?

Sofia: ok mommy. I'm going to get a book. She hugged both detectives and waved goodbye then ran upstairs

It looks like she had the best time with you both. Thanks for taking care of her. She has a problem with all of her babysitters but she actually liked both of you very much

Olivia: I wish I could hire them full time

Liv got out the money to pay them and they both said that's ok then Rollins said "this wasn't a job for us, both of us had fun with her tonight" they said goodnight to us both and left then liv went to put sofia to bed
