Elliot's POV

After an amazing weekend with my wife and kids it was time to get back on the job. Lucy came in after I had dropped the girls off at school and she stayed with Noah while liv and I went off to work. We had a pretty open and shut case and I called to tell Lucy we'd be home pretty soon. It's the first time in a time that we actually worked nine to five. Olivia left out ahead of me because I wanted to organize a few files on my desk while she went to the grocery store to pick up a few dinner items. Just as I headed out I stopped near a seven eleven to pick up a six pack of beers for the both of us. I was headed to my car when this tall man approached me. I was about to ask what he wanted when he pulled out this handgun and fired at me twice before I fell to the ground, he stood over me and said "that's for hiding away that bitch of an ex wife you've got" with that being said her walked away. I fought like hell to keep my eyes open because I have a wife and kids that need their father. All my trying was pointless, my eyes closed to pitch darkness. I was completely out of it

Olivia's POV

After quick stop to the grocery store I went home to relieve my babysitter and started making dinner while I waited for Elliot to come home, after about thirty minutes when the food was prepared and on the stove I decided to give Elliot a call, the case is closed so I have no idea why he's taking so long. I got no answer on my first try, so I tried a few more times and sill nothing. I called the precinct only to be told by fin that he'd left out less than five minutes after I did, this only worried me more and I think he heard the concern in my voice so he offered to help me track him down. 

Fin came over to the house and stayed with the kids while I went out searching for my husband who's now over an hour late. I know this makes me sound crazy, but he wouldn't just go off when he said he would be right home. I drove around thinking of the usual route we take home from work and spotted his car at a seven eleven. my heart stopped when I saw the police tape, a few cruisers and an ambulance out front. I ran out of my car and pushed past the yellow tape without even showing my credentials. I saw a pool of blood near his car

Officer Muller:  this is a crime scene, you can't be back here

I'm lieutenant Olivia Benson and that's my husband's car. What happened here?

Officer Muller: I'm officer James Muller and I found a male lying here with gunshot wounds, but his I'd I'd not say Benson so it's probably not your husband

My husband is detective Elliot Stabler and this is his car, that's his wallet on the floor. I need to know of it's him who was shot

Officer Muller: I'm sorry but yes, we used his drivers license to I'd him and we were just about to sent someone to his house. He's on his way to mercy hospital with gunshot wounds to the abdomen

Did he say anything before you sent him off?

Officer Muller: he was passed put by the time we got here, I wish I had more to tell you other than it looks like he was headed home when this happened

Thanks for your help officer Muller

I felt like I was about to die, but I had to keep it together for the sake of our children. I called fin to let him know what's going on and I made my way to the hospital where sat waiting while el was in surgery. The minutes felt like hours and the hours felt like an eternity, I was both very nervous and at the same time relieved when the doctor came in and asked for the family of Elliot stabler, I immediately stood up and walked towards him to find out what's going on with my husband, I took a deep breath as he began speaking

"your husband did fairly well during the operation and is now resting in recovery. He'll be here a while, but is expected to make a full recovery" 

I was so happy to hear those words, he made it. I followed the doctor into Elliot's room and he gave me some privacy as I sat next to the bed holding El's hand. I heard him groan as his eyes opened and immediately I stood up

Elliot: Olivia

I'm here el, i'm right here. Do you have any idea who shot you. They didn't steal anything so I know it wasn't a random mugging gone bad. Do you know what this is about babe?

Elliot: Kathy

with that one name I understood everything. I knew helping her out would put us in danger and I warned him about it, but I get that she's the mother of his child and protecting her means protecting Cierra so I get it. I'm not about to let whoever shot Elliot get away because of the danger either, so I called my guys and informed them of the Kathy incident which they started working on even though it's late. This case is one that can't wait 

After making my call to the precinct I checked in on fin and the kids, he offered to spend the night so I could stay by Elliot's side and I was very grateful because now is not the time to leave him alone, Eventually we'd have to call and alert Kathy as well so she could stay on the move and out of harms way, but right now my main focus is the man lying in the bed before me

weeks passed and Elliot was released from the hospital. The case against Kathy's ex was basically crap and Kathy had been moving state to state in order to keep him off of her tail until Elliot arranged for her to stay with one of their old friends in Canada for a while. I have no idea how she got herself involved with such a dangerously violent guy, but I'm tired of him threatening my family and it was time to put an end to this mess. El doesn't want me involved because it will make me an even bigger target, but I'm not the type to sit on the sidelines. We sent the kids off to stay a while with elliot's mother in jersey and her neighbor the really sweet lady offered to help his mom look after them and Elliot and I prepared with my detectives for a raid. The best way to catch a criminal is to catch him in the act. Kathy knows about the business so she was able to inform us of a shipment coming in today and we were all in position ready to stop it

I smiled on the inside when I saw our suspects exit the van and as soon as they entered the shopping container we moved it. They didn't go down without a fight. out of their ten guys only two survived the shooting and luckily Kathy's ex wasn't a survivor. It was finally over and I'm happy to tell cierra that her mom can come home because she missed her like crazy even though she tries not to show it

Elliot and I drove home to pack up a few things then drove down to jersey which was a ling drive with lots of traffic. We arrived that evening and the kids were more than happy to have us back with them

Sofia: Mommy, Daddy

Hi baby girl, how's your stay with grandma going?

Sofia: fun, grandma made cookies and we helped her, it was fun mommy

I'm glad your having a good time here, I'm going to check on Noah then you can tell me all about this and cierra your mom is coming to visit soon. When she comes she'll get to stay 

Cierra: yay, i miss mommy so much, thank you for making it okay again

We can have you without that perfect smile, you two should go see daddy while I check on your brother because daddy missed you both very much

The girls ran of to see their dad while I went and checked on Noah who was sleeping peacefully in the bedroom. I was happy to be back with my family where I belong. The past few weeks have been one crazy day after the next and now it's just bliss

Personally my writing to me for this story is starting to really suck because I honestly lost all inspiration for this book, but a hand full of you guys are loving it, so I won't give up just yet.
