He was sitting in the dark as the leaves of fall started to fall. He always cried when he saw the trees turn red. He knew he would see Scott until next spring which comes after winter. He can't wait another season without seeing his boyfriend. It has already been months since they last saw each other, and it was tearing him apart. He had missed him before, but not half as much as he does now after he heard him say that he loved him. Another tear fell out of his eyes before he closed them to picture Scott in his imagination as a way to get rid of this pain that was killing him.

After a few minutes of sparrow he had remembered the lullaby Scott sang that said;

You won't need me forever

But I'll still be here

For we all have our nightmares

Even me, my dear

From now on, if you need me

You can sing this song

There's a light in the hallway

Burning all night long.

He Sang until his pain slightly ceased.

It's been a year since Mitch had seen Scott and he was desperate and helpless. Everytime he thought of him he started to cry. Which was always sinceScott is all he ever thinks about. From the. Moment they first saw each other, 'til their first kiss. No one had ever made him feel so nice and special before, he missed Scott a lot.

He sat on the grass staring at the sky as the light of the stars shone across his face. Then three of his old friends came down to keep him company and not leave him alone. Deneb, the blue star took human form and sat next to Mitch, as well as Sirius and Rigel.

"He'll come back, don't worry." Deneb said. Mitch smiled weakly, he wasn't losing hope at all, he knew he was coming back. He just didn't know when. He doesn't know how to count time like other humans, he just sees the seasonal signs.

"What if he doesn't?" Rigel said sounding worried.

"He will, don't just jump into concl-"

"What if he's dead?" Rigel asked once again making Mitch's eyes watery. Sirius punched him in the arm for that making him whine.

"He's alive. We followed him back home, remember? We're stars. We know everything." Sirius explained. Mitch couldn't even imagine what he would be like if Scott died. He couldn't imagine a live without Scott.

"I have an idea!" Deneb said, "I'll look for him and I'll tell you everything that way you know he's okay." Mitch smiled at that.

"Yeah, Sirius and I will stay and keep you company." Rigel said as Sirius nodded in agreement.

"Be safe Mitch." Deneb said before her body lit up with blue lifts as she transformed back into a star and flew in a wave towards the sky.

The weather was cold in Arlington, but that didn't stop Scott from spending time with his dad by the park. His dad works during fall and they don't get to see each other as much as they used to. "Hey Scott," Mr. Hoying started, "what do you think happened to that friend of yours? The one you found in the lake? Is he, like, lost or something? Or did you just make him up?"

"No, dad. He's real." He said. He was a bit annoyed with his dad towards Mitch's situation. Not only because he thinks that Mitch is Scott's imaginary friend, but because he canceled their visit to the lake last summer to go to his grandmother's house, which was boring. Scott wanted to see Mitch, and now he won't until next summer. Just that thought of that angered him. "Can we take a week off school to go to the lake, maybe? I really miss him."

His dad smiled, "I wish I could, but you know I have to work to gain money and provide all the things you have. Like  the clothes you're wearing, food, those toys I got you last Christmas-"

"Yeah, I think is time you get me something else. I'm not a kid anymore dad."

"You are 13 years old." His dad laughed making him blush. "Why do you wanna see him so badly Scott?"

"Well, I care about him. He doesn't have any real real friends u'know, besides me. He doesn't have real parents, he eats fruits and fish.. He needs me there." Mr.Hoying nodded in understanding however he was still confused towards the situation.

"Okay, I trust you." He said patting his son on his shoulder making him smile.

"So are we going?" Scott asked still smiling.

"First I have to talk to my boss and tell him I have to be off for a few weeks,my son wants to see his friend by the lake or he'll die of desperation." He joked making Scott laugh. He loved his dad's jokes.

----

"What Happened?" Mitch asked sounding worried. Deneb was happy to tell Mitch the good news.

"Scott and his dad are coming back."

"Next summer?" Rigel asked.

"Now!" Deneb answered with a smile on her face.

"B-but is fall.." Mitch said confused yet happy.

"Scott convinced his dad to take a week off work to bring him here. He sure misses you a lot." That made Mitch smile even more.

"Don't trust him too much Mitch, I know you love him, but you know he's human and he has a life to live, right?" Rigel said making Mitch's smile fade. He knew it was true. "He has to go to high school, then college, then get married, and have a family, then he has to go to work, earn money, etcetera etcetera.."

"Stop delivering bad news all the time Rigel, what if I told you stars don't live forever?" Sirius pointed.

"But we do!"

"Can we get back to the point?" Deneb said grabbing both their attention as Rigel took his tongue out like a child making Sirius mad. All Mitch did was laugh at his friends, yet he was concerned about what Rigel told him. He wasn't going to keep coming forever. Even if he wanted to, they both had very different dreams for the future.

"Don't worry guys,I know he won't leave me. And if he does, I understand why. He's the one that can come and leave whenever he wants and I'm.." He said looking down.

"Mitch, you'll be fine. You're with us, remember? We protected you then and we'll protect you forever." Sirius said making Mitch smile.

"Thank you guys."
