You start to appreciate your family more when you loose them. Was that going to be my case? I thought.

My eyes were filled with tears already. I can't really remember the last time I cried but this time I cried uncontrollably.

"Okay, you're scaring me. What the hell is going on, John?" Alex asked.

Still sobbing, I managed to say "My family, I just lost my family."
That was a perfect explanation right? If I told her that my mom killed my siblings, it would have been unbelievable.

We stopped holding hands, when we heard live music coming from the tree house. The tree house was a typical one, built among the branches of mature trees.

John relax, the party can still go on, I tried to convince myself. Oh who was I fooling? Myself of course. Well, it didn't take long before I got to the tree house and was ready to break the news.

"The Party is over guys," I shouted, so everyone could hear.

"What the hell are you saying?" one of them complained, "If you do this we're all going to hate you forever."

"John, the party hasn't even started so how can it be over?" Nathan, one of my colleagues lamented. He was already quite drunk. Nathan was a little over eighteen, and for him, being drunk was normal.

"Look guys, I'll explain later but we can't stay here." I warned.

None of them seemed to have understood a thing I was saying.

I sighed, "Look guys, you can hang me later but the party's over."

I knew I would loose some friends, but at least they would be safe.

The crowd grumbled on and on until someone came, yelling and limping in pain. It was Benjamin, the guy who always acted cool. But this time, he totally lost it.
He was bleeding on his left leg.

"What happened, Ben?" I asked anxiously.

No answer. He just kept on yelling and yelling.

"Hey, can someone help me make him stop yelling?" I asked rhetorically.

It didn't take too long for Alex to give him a slap which made him go mute.

I looked at Alex, surprised, and I didn't know how I ended up saying,"Good Job."

I turned to Benjamin who was finally ready to talk.

"Okay Benjamin," I started calmly, "If you hated that slap, then go ahead and tell us what happened."

"Your.. your mother has gone crazy." He stammered,"I went to look for my brother inside your house and she went wild, she bit my leg."

I looked at his legs. A good chunk of it was bitten and the bleeding hadn't stopped.

"Can someone get me water? I need a clean cloth for his leg."

Everyone was looking quite tensed.

"My little brother," Benjamin reminded.

"Okay but first, you need to go to the local hospital."

"Hospital? There's no need to."

"But--"

"Look, I'm not leaving here until I see my brother," he interrupted.

"Okay, the rest of you can go while I look for Benjamin's bro."
