*Benjamin's pov*

No one must know. No one must know.

Surely, no one must know about what I was about to do. I rolled out of bed, washed my face with water and checked the time. It was 1 am in the morning. I wore my leather hoodie, covering my head with it. I set out to the warehouse where the guns were kept.

It was being guarded by hefty men but I drugged their food so they were soon in deep sleep.

"What do you want?" Williams, the chief guard said to me. He didn't partake in the meal.

"I need the keys to the warehouse. I need to check on the guns."

"No one goes in. Not even you."

"John told me to check the guns," I lied.

"He would have been here himself," he spoke hesitantly.

"You'll do as I say," I said bringing out a dagger.

We were all alone. He looked at his gun afar off.

"Alright," he said handling the keys to me.

He charged towards me from behind but I wasn't caught off guard. I stabbed his arm but he wasn't ready to let go of my neck. I stood up and pushed him against the wall. He threw me two or three punches in the face. I tried to loosen his grip but it was useless. I reached for a stone on the floor, hitting him hard with it before he lost his grip. I pounced on him with the stone, grinding his head again and again until he wasn't moving. I was breathing heavily. I looked at his face which was pretty much horrible now. He wasn't breathing anymore. What the hell? It then dawned on me that I had killed someone.

No one must know. No one must know.

I buried the last gun inside the pit before covering it with sand. Now the guns were far away from the camp. It was in a place where no one will figure out. Not even John. I knew the zombies were coming.. maybe two, three days. John would have no choice but to tell the people about the sad news. The people would loose faith in him. They would be a divided camp. Now I felt like the devil.

Now..

"We have searched the whole camp and we still can't find anything. I think John, you were wrong to think we would find the guns," I said to the group of people who knew about our current situation.

"Guys, we may not have the guns but that doesn't mean we can't fight," John spoke.

"What he has in mind is not feasible," I objected.

"Don't listen to him. Austin and I have come up with a plan."

Unfortunately for him, not everyone was buying his idea anymore.

Fifteen minutes later he came to me, looking to call a truce.

"Benjamin," he said, "we need to work as a team."

"We are working as a team. I mean we searched for the guns together."

"Come on Benjamin!" he yelled.

"So what exactly are you saying?" I wasn't going to make this easy for him. Not yet.

"Let bygones be bygones," he simply said while he stretched out his hand for a handshake.

I looked away from him and saw Alex was there watching us. I knew she was behind this, trying to end our rivalry.

It took two or three seconds of thoughtful evaluation before I decided on what to do. I looked at him, his stretched forth arm, Alex and him again. I shook his hand as both of us forced a little smile and he left.

"Hello Benjamin, you in there?" Rose called from outside my tent. Rose was part of the search party but she was into me so I invite her over.

"Yes, you can come in."

The table was set. We were going to have diner together.

"So Rose, do you know anything about this plan of John's." I began.

"John wants it known within specific people for now. He doesn't trust everyone," she spoke looking away from me.

"So you won't tell me?" I urged giving her a wink.

"I'm sorry Benjamin."

"It's okay. I understand."

"I gotta go." She stood up to take her leave.

Her eye caught something before she left. Something I should have thrown away a long time ago. The key to the warehouse where the guns were kept.

"These are the keys," she spoke as she held them. "What are they doing with you?"

"It's not what you're thinking. I can explain." I gulped.

"So it was you all along?" She gasped. "I really have to go."

"I'm afraid I can't let you do that," I told her slowly while I brought out a deadly looking dagger. It came along with a cunning look and a devilish smile.

No one must know. No one must know.
