Demetri's Pov

I was on my way to Forks with Jane, Alex, and Felix to make sure Bella and Edward's Child, Renesmee was growing and maturing. Aro had sent us, trying to obviously find a flaw in their life style, so he could attack.

I am sure the Cullens are innocent. Last time the Cullens were caught in trouble, I was surprised to find Amun there. Sometimes I wish Aro had never discovered me. Amun was good to me.

I sighed. There was no point in thinking this. I would never be able to leave the Volturi.

We were in Seattle when I caught a delicious scent. I broke off from the others, following the scent.

It lead to a girl. She was maybe eighteen or nineteen. And she was beautiful. She had flawless skin. She seemed more beautiful than any vampire I had ever seen.

I started to walk up to her, but stopped. That would be quite weird if some guy dressed in a dark cloak just started a random conversation. I knew I should have dressed normal.

Maybe I'll speak to her another time. I inhaled her scent and felt my throat scorch. It felt like flames were licking the inside of my throat, burning me from the inside out.

I held my breath, not wanting to kill this girl. I felt silly. I had always just thought of humans as a snack, but now I was showing feelings for a human girl?

Yes, in fact, I was. I know it seemed stupid, but I could not kill this girl. Oh, what I would do to just know her name.

This girl was beautiful. I wanted to be able to love her, to kiss her,.for her to love me, I'd do just about anything...

What was wrong with me? She was a human! I could not love her and she could not love me. I'm sure she'd turn me away anyway.

"Who's there?" She said, suddenly facing me.

"Um, sorry, miss, my name is Demetri." I said.

"Demetri... What an odd name... I like that name..."

I smiled. "What is your name?"

"My name is Heidi."

"Oh, what a lovely name."

"Thank you."

"So would you like to go out or something?"

Her cheeks reddened. "Are you alright?" I asked.

"Yeah. Sure. I'm fine."

"Oh, I was just wondering because your face went red."

"I was blushing."

"Ah, nervous, aren't you?"

"With you around, yes."

"This is not right." I whispered too low for her to hear.

"What did you say?"

"I said 'it's a good night'." I lied. I smiled at her.

Her blush deepened and her dimples became visible as her perfect white teeth glistened in the street light.

My throat burned! Her scent was delicious! I bit my lip to keep from crying out in pain.

"So would you like to go out?" I repeated.

"Of course." She said softly.

I smiled at her again. She looked up at me, straight in the eyes.

She gasped, her eyes widening. I knew what was frightening her. My eyes. My blood red eyes. The ones that show what kind of vile, disgusting, sadistic, evil, cold hearted monster that I really am. I felt my heart (as if it existed) plunge. I did not deserve her.,

"Your eyes. Why are they so red?"

"I'm sorry, I have to go."

"Wait, why won't you tell me."

"Because I can't."

"Why not?"

"Because I would have to kill you. Or make you like me."

"Ha. That's funny. Now seriously tell me."

"I'm not joking."

Her name disappeared. "Please tell me."

"You wouldn't believe, me, darling."

"You want to bet?"

"Yes."

"Try me."

"I can't."

"I know a girl just like you. But her eyes are golden. And she lives with seven more of them and has an adopted daughter."

"What is this girl's name?"

"Her name is Bella Cullen. And she is my cousin.

"Cousin. Ha. She's probably your aunt. Just another lie I'm guessing." I muttered.

"Another lie? What do you mean?"

"Why don't you go ask your vegetarian relative!" I shouted.

"I thought you were nice. Now I can see you are just a rude, disrespectful, secretive monster."

"I am a monster."

"I'm sorry, but I can't go out with you. Not now and not ever!"

"No wait." I said, grabbing her arm. I made sure it was lightly of course.

"What could you possibly want now?" She asked. She had tears in her eyes.

"A day with you. Just a day."

"I'm in college. I don't have any days open."

"How about September 13?"

"That's my cousins birthday."

"The fourteenth then."

"Okay. that's in two weeks."

"I'll see you then."

"Okay, bye Demetri."

"Goodbye."

I waited for her to disappear around a corner before sprinting away with inhuman speed.
