Summary:
It's Halloween night, and Dan ran out of candy. He's left with only two options- disappoint littlechildren and sulk in a corner while the rest of the world has fun, or go to his neighbour's house and borrow candy from him. But he didn't account for one thing- his neighbour's dog. Please note:
Happy Halloween! Also, since I'm a procrastinator, I finished this story right before I had to leave for a Halloween party. I apologise for cliches or grammar mistakes.Warnings: swearing

"Happy Halloween!" I waved at Merida and a stromtrooper as they walked off with the last of my Halloween candy. Now my bucket was empty, and it was only an hour into the night.
Fuck.
I couldn't just close my door to all the trick-or-treaters and call it a night. That would be so mean! I couldn't make cookies or something. Parents would be skeptical, and might think they were poisoned.
After a few minutes of pacing, it dawned on me what I needed to do.
Maybe I could ask Phil...
Phil Lester was my next-door neighbour. He was close to my age, and had a huge dog, but we never talked much.
Not to say we were hostile. We said hi to each other occasionally, but the only time I've ever had a full conversation with him was when I moved into the neighbourhood eight months ago.
But this shouldn't hurt, right?
I grabbed my black jumper from the couch and slipped on my shoes before stepping out into the crisp autumn air. The sky was a spectacular combination of lilac and blood orange, perfect for a night like tonight.
I walked down the path from my house, across the lawn and towards the big oak tree that separated mine and Phil's houses.
His house was a beautiful shade of mahogany, that aligned perfectly with the colours of the evening. It was two stories tall, with a wrap-around porch, and potted plants scattering the railing.
I didn't have much time to admire it though. Because as soon as I stepped over the property line, I heard barking.
Shit.
And before I knew it, the biggest German Shepard I've ever seen was charging at me at full velocity.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
It was coming for me! And it wouldn't stop chasing me! Out of breath from running across the yard, and that thing still hot on my heels, I found my self face to face with the beast.
It's black eyes glittered, it's teeth sharp enough to rip me to shreds. It took a step forward. I took a step back. But my I felt my foot hit hard against the massive oak tree.
He had me cornered.
The monster barred it's teeth, and it's fur stood on end.
I had no where to run. Except...
My eyes travelled up the length of the tree, gazing up at the fiery leaves above. I had only one choice.
"Hey! Samson! Stop barking, you're scaring the kids away! Is there another cat stuck in the tree?"
I froze, and clung tighter to the branch. I watched as a tall man around my age with dark hair and glasses walk around the house.
"Honestly I don't feel like calling 999 again for a cat– oh.... Dan?"
