"This is the CDC?"

The gang had just arrived to a huge building surrounded by dead corpses. Luckily, there were no walkers in sight but the sun was beginning to drop and for some odd reason, they're more active during the night time.

"Yea," Daryl said shortly and loaded up his crossbow before handing me the shot gun to hold. I buckled a bit under its weight but remained silent. This is a bloody graveyard! I nodded silently. Numerous body's were piled up and around the area, some even had name tags. I shivered slightly and ignored their faces in fear of recognizing one of them.

Then I covered my nose trying to escape the putrid smell that the decaying bodies were emitting. "Come on," Daryl whispered harshly as I stood there mortified. He wrapped his free arm around my waist, walking us over to the door. We finally made it but no matter how much we kicked and banged on the door, it wouldn't open. Just great!

"A walker!" Someone yelled and I whipped around in time to see Daryl quickly dispatching an arrow through it's head. I gagged as the blood oozed out of it. I don't think I'll ever get used to that. I trembled quietly as more began to appear. I began shaking in fear. One thing is to hide in the woods and pretend they don't exist and act like the apocalypse never happened. But another totally different situation is to stand in front of dozens of them with absolutely no weapons at all and wait silently for your death.

"Ya' lead us to a grave yard!" Daryl shouted at Rick, his voice laced with anger. I don't blame him.

"He made a call!" Shane yelled back.

"It was the wrong god damn call!" Daryl rushed over to Rick only to be pushed back by Shane.

"Shutup!" Shane shoved him before going over to Rick. "We can still change course and go to Fort Benning." Shane's suggestion didn't sound to bad except for the fact that we didn't have any more food or supplies, let alone gas. Then Andrea voiced my thoughts exactly and I silently agreed.

"Daryl, what are we going to do?" I whimpered, inching closer to him. He stared down at me without saying a word and took the shot gun while handing me the crossbow. Daryl turned around aiming his gun around as everyone else argued. Daryl was the only smart one in my opinion. Ironic! He probably didn't even finish high school!

"You're killing us!" Rick shouted at the camera that he thought had moved. My eyes got watery as I prayed for someone, anyone to hear our pleas. Daryl grabbed my arm as everyone began to leave but just when they managed to pull back Rick, a beaming light appeared behind us as the sound of the door being lifted up hit our ears. Thank god!

Turning around, I thanked the stars for this gift. Without waiting for Daryl, I ran inside into the safety of the CDC. Daryl trailed in behind me after getting our stuff from the truck. I stood with the heavy crossbow in my hands my feet finally buckling under its weight. Weak! Sighing, I felt as someone wrapped their arms around me and pulled me up. I looked up and saw Shane. I smiled gratefully and he returned it before taking the crossbow and handing it over to Daryl who glared.

Feeling weak, I stayed in Shane's arms. Whore! Shutup already! Fine...atleast he used to be a cop and not a poor, lonely redneck. I gritted my teeth at her but didn't respond.

"What do you want?" A shaky voice asked.

"A chance," Rick took the lead and I could see that becoming a habit.

"That's an awful lot to ask for these days." The man said.

Rick looked at us and sighed. "...I know."

The guy nodded defeatedly and after closing the doors, he lead us into an elevator. Shane was still holding onto me and it's not that I liked him. It's just that I NEEDED to feel wanted, held, safe. Daryl was glaring at me openly but it's his fault. He never holds me, especially in public. Outside he did but only for a moment and to keep me moving forward.
