"Can I get some Jack and Cokes please miss?" A handsome voice said.

Turning around, Lexi saw he had an equally handsome face. "Sure. How many would you like?"

"Four please."

She began to make them when another handsome face joined the first one.

"Come on buddy, lighten up. Have a good time. Enjoy a dance," he said clapping him on the back.

"I'm enjoying myself just fine thanks."

Lexi finished pouring the drinks and sat them on the bar. "That'll be twenty please."

The second man took three of the glasses and walked off into the crowd.

"Guess I'll just get these, huh Jared?" the first man called after the second. "Here ya go" he said, slipping Lexi some money. She was just about to take it and get him some change, but he caught hold of her hand. "You have too pretty a face to be in a place like this." He whispered, kissing it as he gave her the money, "Keep the change."

Lexi looked down and there sat a hundred dollar bill in her hand. She looked up to say thank you, but the man was already gone. Her hand hadn't stopped tingling where he had kissed it.

The rest of the night went on as usual. Lexi tried to stay behind the bar as much as possible. It was only when it was her turn on stage did she leave.

"And here comes the beautiful Alexandria to share with us her gorgeous number," Tony, the owner, said over the entertainment system.

The music began and Lexi left herself go with it. She tuned everything out and lost herself in it like she always did. At the end of the song, she exited the stage and headed backstage.

"Great job tonight Lex," Tony said as he walked through to his office.

"Thanks" she mumbled in reply to the closing door.

The next few weeks passed without excitement. Lexi thought she saw that handsome face a few times, but every time she tried to get a better look, the man was gone. Late one Friday night, Tony asked to see Lexi in his office before she left. She threw on her jacket and poked her head into his office door.

"You wanted to see me Tony?"

"Yeah Lex. Please, come in. Sit," he said, patting his lap. "Another beautiful performance tonight Lex. Great job."

"Thank you," she said flushing red. She could smell alcohol on his breath and didn't quite know why she was called in here.

"Well, as you know, the end of the month is coming. Bills are due Lex and it doesn't seem like I've gotten your share yet. Now why is that?"

"I don't know, Tony. I'm still giving you half like I have been."

"Are you stealing from me?" he blatantly accused.

"No, Tony, not at all! That's ridiculous. You know I would never do that."

"Do I? Where's the rest of the money Lex? I only got one hundred from you tonight. Becca? She got me four hundred. Now why is that?"

"Well maybe I don't enjoy giving out certain services like Becca does."

"Oh, yes Lex, I know all about that. You see though, I owe some big money to some big people, so now I have a bit of an issue. Now where's the rest of the money?" He said grabbing her.

"Tony, let go of me!" she said trying to push away from him.

"Give me the damned money," he said while trying to rip off her coat. She struggled to get out of his grasp and he just crushed her arms harder.

"Tony, you're hurting me" she said as tears streamed down her face.

"If you don't have the money, maybe I'll just take something else from you. Ever since you walked into my club, looking for a job, you've held your snotty nose up, thinking you're just too good for us here. Well how about I show you what you're missing out on, baby" He finished with a dark glint in his eye.

Lexi momentarily froze, understanding his meaning all too well, then increased her struggle against him but to no avail. He ripped her coat off, the cloth shredding to pieces.

"Tony, please no, please don't do this to me," she said, tears streaming down her face.

"Don't struggle against what I know you're dying to have babe," he said, removing the shredded coat from her. He began to pull at her dress, trying to coax it up her thigh.

Her hands struggled endless against his. She tried to pull out of his arms encircling her, but still no success. 'This can't be happening. Please no. Not me. Please God, no.' Lexi silently prayed. She began to hit and punch him, trying to loosen his grasp, even slightly. Her back hit his office wall and his one hand snaked up her dress while the other pinned her hands above her head. Her fear increased tenfold and she did the only thing she could think of. She kneed him where it meant the most.

"Arrgghh," he yelled, crumbling in a heap on the floor.

Lexi ripped out of his office, running towards the alley exit. She slammed the door open, just as she heard Tony's advancing steps behind her. He grabbed her hair as she crossed the threshold and held his mouth close to her ear.

"Now, now Lex. That was not a very nice thing to do," he said, throwing her towards the alley's brick wall.

She slammed off the wall and onto the concrete, her head spinning at the impact. She tried to get up, but was pinned to the ground by Tony straddling her.

"Now, I'm gonna get what I want, whether you like it or not, you little bitch," Tony sneered.

Suddenly, a stranger tackled Tony Head on, knocking him to the ground. The stranger, on top of Tony, began mercilessly punching his face all the while say, "You filthy scumbag! How dare you lay a hand on her!"

Tony slipped into unconsciousness and the stranger finally stopped his assault. He made to bend down near Lexi as she lay sobbing on the concrete. She cowered away from him and he threw up his hands in a I-don't-want-to-hurt-you-manner. He gently helped her to sit up, tears still streaming down her face.

"That looks pretty bad," he said, indicating a gash on her forehead. "Do you have someone I could call for you, miss?" he added.

The world was still spinning so it took Lexi a moment to realize he was talking to her. She slowly shook her head and was just about to say something when he cut her off. "Can I at least give you a ride then?" he asked quietly.

She nodded and he helped her to her feet. The alley began to spin and he caught her just before she stumbled. He scooped her up and just as she was about to protest, a wave of nausea hit her. "Please move slowly," she mumbled, closing her eyes.

He obliged and slowly they walked to where, Lexi had no idea. She heard a car door open and felt herself being gently lowered into a seat. The door closed and she heard the engine roar to life. A new wave of tears and sobs escaped and she lost the little control she had over herself.

"Shush, please don't cry. You're safe now," the stranger said, placing a hand tentatively on her arm. She only cried harder at this and he was at a loss for words. When she finally quieted down, he handed her a tissue and she gladly accepted it. Without even asking where she lived, he started to drive off into the night. Lexi felt her eyes begin to droop from the emotional exhaustion and she slipped into a dreamless sleep.
