That was 4 years ago, and today was the anniversary of my moms murder. The anniversary of joining countless foster care homes, and being put in the system.

The anniversary of when my life changed for better and for worse.

I remembered everything from that day. From when I woke up again after the social worker talked to me in the hospital, to the nurse not believing what happened to me. Resulting in her telling me I was an attention seeking liar.

So, I decided to keep what happened that day to myself. Leaving my moms murder unsolvable.

I had spent 4 years jumping from foster home to foster home. Some of them abusive, and some just ignoring me. Some even pretended to care. But none really did.

Last week I got emancipated, and now I'm living in a medium sized apartment with my room mate Savannah. Otherwise known as my only friend.

Today was the last day of school, and I was going to college next year. It all seemed surreal.

"Becka! Hurry up you're going to be late!" Savannah yelled from our kitchen.

Shaking my thoughts away, I got out of bed and slid into my black T-shirt that said in bold white letters, 'I Lost All Emotions.' With some black skinny jeans, paired with my favorite pair of red converse.

Pulling my flaming red hair into a messy bun then throwing on a blank sweatshirt. It never really got too hot in New York so I didn't usually wear summer clothes.

Walking into the kitchen, I spotted toast. "Thanks Van." I say while eating it. Van has short brown hair, and intense grey eyes. She may not look too tough, but believe me, she is.

"You are not wearing that to school on your last day!" She scolds me and I roll my eyes in return.

Over the years my personality has changed dramatically. The old me used to be popular, outgoing, and fun. Now, I'm a loner who is shy and just a mere okay.

I'm now the person you find listening to her headphones in the back of the class. The girl everyone tried to pretend didn't exist. Which I was okay with.

"I know you have this lone wolf thing going for you-" Savannah starts with a frown.

"But." I cut her off. "I like being the 'lone wolf'."

"It's the last day of school before we go off to college! This summer you are going to be that social butterfly I know that's in there past the emo loner! Now go change!" She tells me sternly.

"No, I'm fine." I say while slinging my backpack over my shoulder walking out the door before she could even utter a protest.

Taking the community bus to school today was easier than dealing with Van. The bus leaves at 6:30, but it was only 6:15. So I have a lot of time before then.

I closed my eyes to seal my self into my head to think, when suddenly someone sat next to me. Right next to me on the bench.
