"Now, let me see that arm." The man said. Steve stifled a breathe when he picked it up in his hands.

"Oops. Sorry." The man apologized. "Whatever skeleton did that had a wicked shot. Right in the shoulder."

"Yeah, that's great, but can we just get it out, please?"

"Do you have any food with you?"

"Uhh, yeah."

"Apples?"

Steve pulled out an apple.

"Eat it." The man said.

He did, and the arrow fell off.

"Oh, yeah! I forgot about that."

"Keep that arrow with you. Might need it later."

"You know, I would like to know your name." Steve said.

"Eugene."

"Okay, Eugene. I'm Steve. What happened here?"

He shrugged.

"What happened to all of the other villages, I guess. Here, let's sit and have a chat."

They both sat across from each other on a sofa made of wool and oak slabs.

"So, what exactly happened here?" Steve asked again.

"It happened not too long ago. A couple of weeks, I think. Our village was thriving. The river was especially a highlight. Until the mobs stopped dying."

"Not burning in the daylight, increasing in number." Steve mentioned.

"Yeah. As head engineer, I said we should build a wall with some defenses. Others said we should leave, but before any decision was made, they invaded. Killed my wife and children. Killed all of my friends, my family, my leader. I'm all that's left here."

"Oh, Notch, I'm so sorry." Steve said.

"I've gotten over it. Mostly, that is. Now, I scavenge the village for supplies and food that's left over."

"Why not just leave?"

"I can't leave my birthplace to be infested with those horrible creatures."

"So, what do you do?"

"I'm doing just as I said we should've done: building a wall and defenses. Once I've separated the outside from the inside, I can clean out the mobs inside-out."

"Smart. But you're doing that all by yourself?"

"What choice do I have?"

"I could stay and help you."

"No, not when your friends are in need."

"My friend Sam can take care of them just fine for a while. I bet they're out there looking for me right now."

That wasn't the case. They were sent tumbling off the edge of the waterfall into the depths below. Sam saw a pink figure and grabbed Rose tight.

SPLOOOOOOOSH!

They dove into the water. Sam's pig kicked the water until they both broke the surface. They crawled onto the sand, gasping for air. He felt someone grab his foot, and he reached down to pull out Brittany. She gasped for air.

"Where's Daniel?" She choked.

He burst out of the water, sputtering and gasping for air. He crawled out of the water onto the shore. He sat up, looking at the height of the waterfall.
