They found a suitable cave to make a small shelter out of. The sun was about to dip in the horizon.

"Here's a good cave." Sam said.

"Wait." Brittany said. She walked in and listened closely. "No spiders. It's good."

"Okay. Cobble walls and a wooden door." Sam said. "I'll see if I can get some dry wood to make torches."

While the two tended to the wall, Sam pulled out his axe and started to chop some trees down. Some of the leaves dropped saplings that he put in his pockets. Rose found an apple that fell out and munched on it happily. Sam patted her head.

"Okay, I think that's enough." Sam said. The pig squeaked in agreement.

*slop* *squish*

Sam looked around. The noise sounded close. He pulled his sword out.

"Steve?" He called out.

*slop* *squish*

Sam turned his head, looking for the source of the sound. He couldn't pinpoint it. Was it dark enough for mobs to spawn?

*slop* *squish*

Then Sam saw it. It was a small slime hopping out from behind a tree. Sam lowered his sword.

"Aw." Sam said. "Come follow us home, little slime."

The slime seemed to respond, moving closer.

"That's it, that's it." Sam said. He knelt down to pick up the slime when he heard more slopping and squishing. He looked up.

Dozens of small slimes came around the corner.

"Gah!" Sam yelped. "Run, Rose!"

The pig didn't hesitate. She turned and ran, with Sam alongside her. They made it through the forest back to the cave.

"Hey, that was quick." Daniel said.

"We need to build the wall, quickly." Sam said.

"But the inner wall isn't finished yet. We'll get mobbed in there." Brittany said.

"We're going to get mobbed out here if we don't build that outer wall." Sam said. "There's a whole herd of slimes on their way."

"Slimes? Those aren't really dangerous." Daniel said.

"Unless you have a bunch of them trampling you in your sleep."

"Oh. Good point." Daniel said.

"We need to do it quickly, then. We have to do both before the mobs start spawning." Brittany said.

Quickly, they built the outer wall and walked through the door way inside. It was pretty dark.

"Let's close it off." Brittany said.

"But what if Steve's out there looking for us? He'll never be able to find us." Sam remarked.

Daniel thought about it for a moment.

"Do you have any flint and steel?"

"Yeah, sure. Here." Sam handed it to him. Daniel placed a crafting table.

"Wood, please."

Sam handed it to him. Bernard took the four planks from it and placed two down on the grid, making sticks. Pulling out his coal, he put them on the ground and lit the ground next to the pile with the flint and steel.

"Hurry. I hear mobs spawning." Brittany said.

"Just a few seconds." Bernard said. The fire died out, and he picked up his coal, now dry. He went back to his crafting table and crafted the torches. He gave one to Sam. "Put it on the wall outside. If he sees it, he'll find us."
