AUTHOR'S NOTE;

"you know, i don't really know if i should take you seriously or not," i snickered, looking down at my 11 year-old brother who was glaring back at me. "i don't fight little kiㅡ"
i couldn't even finish my sentence before deokhwa tackled my legs, making us both fall down. he started throwing his fist at my legs with all his might. i winced and reached for his hands to stop them, but not before he threw one last blow to my abdomen.
"urghㅡ!" i sputtered.
"hey, what is going on in here?!"
just on time, mom came in the room while carrying a basket full of clothes, her face filled with confusion and aggravation.
i felt the corners of my lips twitch. mom's timing was unbelievably perfect.
"m-mom," i croaked out. "get d-deokhwa off m-me."
i held my abdomen, putting on a pain-stricken face on. that acting class better be worth it or i'm suing the teacher.
"ahn deokhwa," mom placed down the basket and walked over to us. "get off your sister, right now."
i slightly peeked over at deokhwa who had a stupefied look on. i closed my eyes again before i could let out a snort.
"m-mom, it's not w-what it looks liㅡ"
"oh really? cause' tackling your sister to the ground wasn't what it looked like?"
i felt the weight on my legs disappear, making me peek again.
"she started it!" deokhwa pointed at me. "she called me a little kid!"
even the slightest thing could set him off, and that's what made me advantageous.
"you are a little kid, deokhwa."
i snorted a bit before covering it up with a cough and a groan.
"i'm already old!"
lol, like grandpa? i started to crawl my way up the couch and hid my smile before they could even see it.
"deokhwa, you should learn self- control," i peeked again to see mom picking up the basket and giving him a look. "even so, you shouldn't throw punches at your sister for a petty reason."
"butㅡ!"
"you're grounded for two weeks and that's final."
with that, i heard the door shut, leaving us both alone in the living room. i stayed still for a few seconds before moving and properly sat down to give my brother a smug look.
"hah," i triumphantly snickered. "sucker."
"screw off," he said as he walked away.
"hey, no swearing." i cried out.

haejin plopped down on the bench as she sipped on her green tea, looking at the energy-absorbing scenery in front of her.
she watched as a group of jocks played around, kicking a few soccer balls, some shooting them right at the goal post. some were even fooling around with girls and eating lunch rowdily.
"hey, haejin,"
she turned and saw her friends, yohan and nari making their way towards her with a few packs of chips and various foods in their hands.
"looks like a feast," she chuckled. "what's the occasion?"
"yohan finally got a girlfriend," nari nudged the boy beside her who placed down the food on the table.
"no," he shot her a look before turning back to haejin with an eye-smile. "i got in the soccer team."
"what, really?" haejin gave him a surprised look before munching down on the triangular kimbap.
"heck yeah i did," he sat down and grinned proudly. "i'm playing next week. you guys wanna watch?"
"sure," nari shrugged.
"why not." haejin replied, her voice muffled over the food.
"anyways," nari scooted closer to the two and leaned in with an impish grin. "don't you guys think jimin is hot?"
"who?" haejin asked, making a few pieces of rice fly off. nari clicked her tongue and dusted off a few.
"well," haejin shrugged and continued eating. "i guess if you swing that way, i don't mind."
"what?"
yohan finally got the gist of what haejin was saying and gasped slightly.
"are you..no way.."
"what are we talking about?" nari asked, exasperated.
[ AUTHOR'S NOTE: it seems like a lot of people misunderstand the joke that's inserted— kim jimin— who is a famous gag woman in korea known for being one of the prettiest comedians but i just wanted to clarify that yes, it is intentional and i did not make any mistake. ]
"i didn't know you had a thing for kim jimin." yohan muttered in surprise.
"w-whatㅡ no, i don't like that gag woman!" nari sighed. "i'm talking about park jimin! from our school!"
"oh," haejin snorted. "whoops, my bad."
nari ignored her and faced yohan. "aren't you guys in the same team? are you guys close?"
"same team? yes, close? no." yohan shook his head.
"what?" nari looked at him in disbelief. "are you serious?"
"oh no, i'm actually joking," he replied sarcastically to which nari ignored.
haejin swallowed the last bit and exclaimed," hey, guys, you know what? yesterday, my brotㅡ"
"watch out!"
a yell from a distance was heard. haejin couldn't even respond to the look that was plastered on her friends' faces before she fell off the bench, her head stinging a few seconds after the impact.
