CHAPTER 13
I tape the last box which mostly consisted of my books. It was now 10 in the morning which meant four hours had passed since i started packing. I was lucky that cindy and andy dropped in to give me a hand, or else i never would have finished it on time. They helped me roll up my mattress and tape some of the boxes. Andy even helped me find an apartment and he's even going to drive me there. I look around the empty half of the dorm which was supposed to be mine but would be someone else's soon. I wonder if she and cindy would get along. I assumed they would as cindy is so easy to get along with.
As i took a final look, a familiar nostalgia made it's way through me. i felt like i was leaving again where as i was only moving to a new place. And there was no way i would let this effect me as it would only mean letting Damien win.
Andy helped me with my bags as i hopped in the passenger's seat. I just hoped that this new apartment wouldn't be too far from the university as i would lose my luxury of sleeping in.
After an hour and a half drive, andy finally stopped in front of a gloomy looking apartment building which looked poorly renovated. We went up to the second floor and i wasn't surprised to see that the interiors of the apartment were almost as unappealing as the exterior. The walls were painted a pale white, while the floors were marble. The only pleasing thing about the apartment was the open balcony. I was also surprised to see a fridge and a couch in the hall which surprised me
"my cousin used to live here, but he moved to Australia. Before he left, he asked me if i wanted to use his place. figured you could use it more than i can. He left some furniture here just in case i needed them."
"how much is the rent?"
" you would have to pay $650 every month."
"i gues i will be able to manage for the first two or three months with the money i have but i am looking for a part time job."
"found something yet?" he says sitting on the couch. I take out yesterday's news paper and go through the adds once again. Andy takes the paper from my hands and suggests to help me decide.
"how about being a waitress for a strip club. This new one 'kat's' is poffering 600 every month and you'll get tips."
I scoffed at his suggestion. " keep looking."
" well how about being a librarian for the summer? You like spending time at the library."
"well i wouldn't want to spend my entire time there. Is there anything i could do even after classes start and which pays more than y rent so i can afford other important things like food"
Andy looks through the paper carefully and remains quiet for the next ten minutes until he circles something on the paper.
"There is this firm Stone's Enterprises. The CEO Alexander Stone is looking for a new PA. The pay is $2000 a month and they require someone who has affluent communication skills and efficient organisational abilities, someone who is punctual and hard working. The firm is located in Time's square. It's an hour away from here. They say it's a walk in interview. "
"that's interesting. When is the interview?"
"It's tomorrow at 9Am. How about i drive you to your interview tomorrow since you are not that familiar with the city? Since they want someone punctual, you wouldn't want be late on your first day."
I give a warm smile to Andy as i give him a bear hug. i was so lucky to find such great friends who are helping me through all this.
"you are the best."
