Sam and damien stare at each other for sometime. They looked like they were having a stare show down at the moment. sam trying desperately to intimidate damien and damien carrying his 'you can't scare me attitude'. While sam shot damien a murderous glare, damien reciprocated by staring back at sam with a serious look relaxed shoulders and raised eyebrows.

"what are you doing here?" sam asked menacingly.

"well aren't you the one who invited me?"

"that was before i knew you were the same obnoxious guy from the mall. Did you come alone or did you bring your hook ups with you?" damien's eyes darken as he steps closer to sam looking at him dead in the eye.

"you better back off."

"or what? You will threaten me like you did my sister?"

Sam asked angrily. Normally this would be the time damien would show off and show what he's capable of but he stepped back, his face bent down for a while until he finally raised it and looked at me.

Dad who was oblivious to the tension in the hall was still at the balcony attending his call. Judging by his expressions, it was an important call but was probably giving good news judging by the smile on his face. It was great to see that smile like that. I haven't seen them for so long.

Damien came up to me and looks at me softly.

"i think it's best if i leave now. Thank you for inviting me though." Damien says before he walks away. I looked at sam who was still standing still arms crossed with a serious look on his face. He wants to leave? No! The thought of him leaving and that too because of friction between me and my brother was not acceptable. After all, it was just a bad meeting and could be resolved. And more than anything i really wanted them to get along. I stop him from leaving when he was about to step out the door and pull him to a corner.

"what are you doing?" i asked angrily

"listen it's your father's birthday and i don't want to be the reason for the cause of fiction. Tell him i got an important call or something."

"no i am not going to do that."

"Rebecca, don't worry about it. And trust me it's for the best. Besides your brother asked me to bring you along, he probably expected a gentle man who saved helped his sister not a punk who threatened her instead. Besides i bet you invited me because you he asked you to." He says and was about to step out the door before i stopped him again.

"listen, i admit when i invited you first it was just to show sam that there was nothing wrong but i......" i take a deep breath before i braced myself to admit a truth i really wasn't willing to "i actually want sam to get to know you better and i want you to...be here damien." I couldn't help the blush creeping in my cheeks when i said that.

"you sure.?" Damien asked but with a smirk on his face and that was a sign that he was staying and just being snarky.

"do whatever."

"all right."

I huffed before turning on my heels. He was just playing with me now. I was planning to walk away before damien pulled me back. He looked at me with a grin and shook his head. He then bent down a laid a soft peck on my cheeks which made me blush harder. What the hell? What if sam saw that? For his sake i hope he didn't.

I walk up to the hall to see that dad was sitting down in the couch and sam was no where in sight.

"where is sam?"
