CHAPTER 28(DAMIEN'S POV)

I fiddle with the pen in my hand twirling it around in my fingers aimlessly as i sit back in my chair taking it's full support; a position which was not very used to but then again the last couple of days had thrown various situations my way which i was not used to but had to deal with anyway. In a span of ten days i got news of my brother being extremely sick, got into a whole lot of trouble, seaked out a girl, confide in her and told her my deepest and darkest past, showed her my safe zone which was known to few, fall for her and then loose her as well.

I look at the footage which was supposed to be evidence behind the culprit of the theft of the flashdrive, the same footage which shook my being as it showed becca breaking into my office after hours when everybody had left and leaving with something clutched in her hand.

I knew what the evidence pointed at, but it just made no sense to me. Why would Rebecca of all people take the flash drive? What could she possibly gain from it? I sigh as i cover my face with an arm and lean back in my chair. I remembered when i first saw this i just felt plain shock which was enough to temporarily paralyse me followed by guilt and rage which was directed towards myself for being an idiot to trust someone like that when i knew better, when i knew how people can turn out as but trusted someone anyway. And finally i remember asking myself why i trusted her so much and why i still doubt she could be the person behind this even though evidence point against her?

I take a deep sigh as memmories of last week flash in my mind.

(flash back)

My hands quiver in anger as i make my way into the office building. everyone present there must have been aware that something had gone wrong as they made sure to move out of my way if they saw me coming. I hurried to my office where i noticed many people crowd over which was an unusual sight but then again, this was an unusual setting.

"excuse me." i say as i push through the crowd and entered the office where the safe which was supposed to be a hidden compartment inside the wall was now broke open and the flash drive missing from it. The safe was broken which indicated that the thief left in a hurry but that was not the suprising part. What was suprising was that nothing else was missing from the entire office let alone the safe. No other documents was taken nor was money stolen which only meant one thing-the thief was specifically after the flashdrive. This was really bad. further more there were no signs of break in either which meant that it was someone who had a key to my office but how could that be? The only ones who had a key to his office was himself and the ones who had extra keys was alex, the occasional cleaning lady and becca. Becca....becca? no! There is absolutely no way beca could ever do that. It was absurd of me to even think so. how could i even be so callous?

"excuse me. please let me through." I could hear a familiar voice say from the crowd and i immedietly knew whom it belonged to. I went up to the crowd of people gathered outside and pulled becca by her hand who was trying to know what the commotion was about. I pulled her by the hand and pulled her to my side. I watched as her eyes widened and i wondered who was more surprised-her or the crowd? But i paid no second thought to that and walked back to my office.

"i got your call. What was the big emergency about?" she asked confused.

"take a look." I say and point out at the scene of the theft in front of me. becca looks at the direction where i was pointing at and her eyes grows wide as she gapes at the broken safe.

"what the hell?" she asks, although i suppose to herself.

"whoever did this has put all our life's hard work into jeprody." I say as i clutch my fists tight.
