MistyHeart's POV

I stood at the edge of the river looking in with two cats staring back at me. My brother and I. However only one of us was looking at the water. My brother was blind. But deep down he can see more than any of us. That's the best thing about my brother, but it's also the creepiest. He looks at people with his grey eyes like he can actually see them and he dazzles all who see him hunt.
"Why are you being so quiet MistyHeart? You're normally yapping about other clans or asking me stupid questions!" My brother meowed irritated by my silence.
"I was thinking you foxheart!" I bit back. We always squabbled.
"About what?"
"I don't remember cause of you!"
"You were looking at my eyes in the reflection of the water." His voice was flat. "I can still feel it." I felt my pelt go hot in shame.
"Why don't we go back to camp? ForestPelt may need help with herbs." I answered quickly.
"Okay and don't let me trip this time." His irrated mew sounded again. "My leg was stiff for days, I felt like a useless elder."
"They contribute to RiverClan in ways you don't understand." I mewed responsibly.
"Yeah, and fish fly!" He murmured. As soon as we got back to camp ForestPelt came out of the medicine cat den.
"Hello FogJay, your just the cat I was looking for." ForestPelt grinned at him. "Can you tend to FrogKit? He jumped into a patch of stingy nettles. He'll need something to soothe the pain and maybe a poppyseed for shock."
"Fine..." And once again FogJay was gone. I felt like I was slowly loosing connection from my blind, ignorant brother. But I'll try everything I can to keep him close to my heart. Before anyone else.

FogJay's POV

I don't see why I have to do everything. ForestPelt had an apprentice already and I could feel her staring at me as I walked into the den. LittlePaw has been the medicine cat apprentice since yesterday and looks up to me more than she does her mentor. Sometimes I feel pride from this, sometimes annoyance. I headed over to the squiggling kit being soothed by his mother.
"You can go now BlossomFace..." I called to the queen. "LittlePaw and I can handle him." I felt a little anxiety come off the queen and after a moments hesitation, she left. LittlePaw was staring at me, she was glowing with pride that I mentioned her.
"You shouldn't stare. It's rude." I snapped at her feeling embarrassed. I wasn't her mentor, she shouldn't feel any pride.
"B-but how c-can you know? Your...-" she whimpered but I cut her off.
"Yes I'm blind but I can sense you staring!" I let own an annoyed hiss. "Can you get me some dock leaves for the kit?"
"What do they look like again?"
"Well if I knew I would gladly tell you but guess what? I can't see!" It's almost like they all forget.
"I-i found them." I felt her cautiously nudge the leaves towards me.
"Good." I turned my attention back to FrogKit. "Stop squiggling and let me put this mush on you."
The kit sat still as i licked the crushed dock leaves onto him.
"Does that feel better?" I asked gently. He mewed "yes".
"D-didn't ForestPelt tell you to give him a poppyseed for shock?" LittlePaws whimpering voice was beside me again.
"He doesn't need a poppyseed. He's calmed down. Can you manage taking him back to his mother?"
"Yes FogJay..." LittlePaw retreated from the den with FrogKit and I followed. I could smell MistyHeart eating a water vole and sat by that.
"Mind if I share?" I asked and shock beamed off her.
"Of course!" She mewed. I felt like I was in our final moon of the nursery, eating hard food by now. I always love my sister even though I snap a lot. After I finished we went to the Warriors den and slept for the night.

MistyHeart's POV

I felt like all the fog between me and FogJay had cleared. When we shared that vole like we did when we were young. He looked genuinely happy for once. I curled up in my nest next to him and fell into a deep relaxing sleep.
"MistyHeart. MistyHeart!" There was a soft voice calling me, and I walked into the darkness of my dreams to hear it. It sounded faintly like the voice of our old leader who died young. I was only an apprentice then. I followed the voice blindly until a figure knocked me over.
"MistyHeart? Your here too?" I instantly recognised FogJay's voice.
"How do you know it's me? You can't see scent anything in dreams."
"Well of course I can see in dreams! How do you think I know how to treat a cat?" He snapped gently.
"Okay okay... Why are we here?" I was shaking.
"I'm guessing you heard the voice too so we should g-" someone cut him off.
"You both made it. Good." It was the old leader of RiverClan. RippleStar.
"I can't believe it..." I whispered.
"So you must know I've called you here for a reason." She continued.
"yes RippleStar." FogJay somehow remained calm while my fur was in end. He then added to me. "RippleStar normally comes to me on the rare occasion I go to the MoonPool."
"I called you here to send you on a journey. To start a new clan called WolfClan." She smiled and I was suddenly aware of other groups of cats around us. I couldn't make any out though.
"Two cats from each clan have been chosen for this quest. You have been chosen for your unique talents and will make a great edition to the clan." I listened to every word. I can't believe I was this special. "Meet the others at the island in two days time. We will come to you then."
"Are you leaving already!" FogJay shouted into nothing as we both woke up.
