See that picture on the side? That’s the rain falling down the windows as they drive to the diner/the special place. You’ll have to read on for that ;D and the erm… video thingy? Yea that’s for when they go to the special place. I’ll tell you when to play it!
Chapter Twenty-Nine
-Lilah-
Rain was outlining everywhere around us, soaking everything and anything in its path. The football game was nearly over yet nearly beginning. All the girls were huddled under the tent whereas I was the only girl who had her hood off and was actually into the game, nearly chewing off my nails in the process.
Niall’s semi-warm hands were rubbing up and down my nearly iceberg-like arms. It was adorable that he was trying to warm me up in the cold, rainy November weather but I didn’t want it. I guess I was a lot less girly than everyone portrayed me as.
Number 52 made a goal bringing the score up to 27-15. We still needed at least 9 more points to win. This wasn’t even my favorite team but I wanted Niall’s team – which gradually became mine over the course of the game – to win.
If you looked at the sky above us, you’d think it was 3:00 in the afternoon but in reality it’s only a little past 11. We had the whole rest of the rainy day to waste in Mullingar until we had to leave at 7 for our trip to Greece.
After days of nonchalant begging, Niall and I decided that even though Thanksgiving was an American tradition and his parents like to still do family time in that period, we wanted to start a new tradition the two of us. They were upset but understood – it’s not like they could change both of our stubborn minds. Thanksgiving was 2 days away and we could still Skype them while we were in Greece.
“Lilah?” Niall asked, poking my cheek at least four times before I looked at him. “We won,” he added simply. I immediately screamed and jumped into his arms with a huge smile on my face. This was the last time we’d see Mullingar for a while and I know that this game meant a lot to both of us, even in the pouring fucking rain.
When he set me down on the ground, I immediately put my palms on his cheek with his hands wrapped around my waist and we kissed. It was the cliché kiss in the rain with everyone watching. Sure girls probably glanced at us thinking “what attention whores they are” in their little Irish accent. And then there were the ones who immediately swung out the phones and started taking pictures.
Which happened the majority of our trip, and then everyone knew where we were and what we were doing. It was a little weird; I mean these people went above and beyond with this sort of stuff. Just like the guidos in New Jersey.
After forever, we pulled away, smiles plastered on our cheeks. I leaned up to press one more peck onto his hot cocoa tasting warm lips. He grabbed my hand, twirling me around a few times before he brought me back to his chest. Slightly lifting me off the ground, he spun me around with the rain coming down like buckets now.
After a few spins, we were getting dizzy. He sat me back down, giving me one more peck on the lips. I grabbed his hand – intertwining the fingers – and started to swing our arms back and forth like we were five. That’s another thing about me; I always act like I'm younger than I really am. No wonder why Louis and I got along so well. We were described as practically the same person.
“You know,” Niall whispered into my ear, “we can always go to that little diner down the street from my house for the last time. It’d be cute.”
I giggled a bit. We loved that place ever since the second night we were here. “I’d like that.”
“Well the rest of the team was going and they invited and they said they’d pay so…”
