New Orleans - The Bar
"Looks like hell of a party happened here." Tierry chuckled, slowly stepping over the several beer bottles scattered across the bar floor. "Well that's what happens in New Orleans dear." I let out a soft sigh. "Remind me again to never let Marcel have a party here, ever again."
Tierry laughed softly, helping me pick up the beer bottles. "Well you know what Marcel is like with his parties. He'll probably have one after tonight." Tierry said, standing beside me, handing me the bottles. "Why is that?"
"I heard that a witch was using magic, that is all I can tell you." Tierry shrugged.
The usual then. I thought to myself. Poor witch could have done magic by accident but to Marcel, there is no accidents.
"Marcel knows I wouldn't say anything when it comes to witch business. Just because I know many witches, doesn't mean I will betray him." I said to Tierry, "Not in my nature."
"Well, I better get going." Tierry said. "Do you always like to check up on me?" I asked, turning around to face my friend. A smirk appeared on Tierry's face. "Always. Someone needs to make sure you aren't dead yet."
I rolled my eyes at Tierry's cheekiness. Always the gentleman but he had a cheeky side. I continued to clean up the beer bottles and the litter - all in a day's work I guess.
"I wonder why you called it 'The Bar'." I heard a very familiar voice say behind me, a voice I haven't heard in over hundred years. "It's very simple also the exact name of the bar featured in Gone Girl. The marriage in that book somewhat reminds me of one I use to know. One that sadly came to an end."
I turned to face the voice. My heart was racing but I quickly managed to keep it steady. "You seem flustered, Alexandria."
"Wouldn't you be, Elijah? After seeing an old friend whom you haven't seen or heard from in a hundred years." I retorted, stepping closer to him. I watched him with a steady eye. Elijah smiled to me before we both exchanged the awkward 'nice to see you again' hug.
It would have been better to do a handshake.
"Let me guess, my mother is 'concerned'." I sighed softly. "You meet the woman by accident several years before and apparently she's now just worried." I let out a bitter laugh. "Let me guess, we want to be the best boyfriend ever. Yes, Nadia told me about you and my mother - which is, which is just, no."
"It's not about Katerina." Elijah replied, swiftly taking the black bin bag out of my hand. "Even though she did say that she is worried about your lack of a life."
I cringed at the effort my mother was putting into being a 'mother'. "Katerina can mind her own business. Drink?" I asked but my offer was soon turned down.
"I must bother you by asking for a favour." Elijah said, peeking my interest in his sudden 'visit'. "It's to do with a witch. I heard around these parts that you take kindly to witches."
"I was considered one back in the day, plus they pay me well in tips." I shrugged, "What is this favour? I better not be getting involved in some turf war."
"I just simply want you to help me learn about a witch named Jane-Anne Deveraux." Elijah said. I sighed softly, shrugging. "Sorry. I don't know much about her. Her sister, Sophie, is an annoying twit but the girl makes a good gumbo. That's all I know Elijah."
