M'Beke and Dr Williams boarded their flight to LA. They had a few hours to go before they landed, which would give them plenty of time to acquaint themselves.
They got their bags stowed away, and got settled in their seats.
M'Beke spoke up first.
" Professor, when I began my trip to America I recalled a prophecy I was taught when I was a child. It was about a star alignment which would occur at some future time. This would signal that the time is near for the great event to happen again- "
"Event?" The Professor cut in.

"It is Orion's alignment with The Sirius Star System, forming the 'Crocodile' as we the Dogon call it.
He pulled a small notepad out of his pocket and drew a stick figure of a crocodile.
This represents to us the death of the old time, a golden age of prosperity like the planet had never before experienced. It was about to come to an end. Because humanity had become ready to devour everything and take everything in greed, it was humanity that would be devoured by the 'Great Crocodile'."
"Are you a spiritual people M'Beke? " Dr Williams asked.
"We are deeply spiritual, but not so much religious."
"By religious, you mean like rituals and dogma?"
Said Williams.
" In a way, yes, we do have our beliefs on God. But for the most part we are concerned with bringing peace first to our families and then to others, and one day the whole world."
" That's a noble cause M'Beke." Said the Professor.
"So, back to the Crocodile Star Formation, what sorts of things are prophecied to happen?"

The Priest sighed.

"It is terrible. First the earthquakes, droughts, and storms. Next , the fiery rocks from the sky. And the animals dying off in large quantities. The birds, and the fish. So many animals."
The Professor listened intently.
" But no event such as what we're seeing. People falling dead in the street. Horrifying."
" Do you see the stars lining up as the Crocodile?"
" I do not." Said M'Beke. " But I believe it will be soon."

From their plane window, the city was now coming into view.
They saw the emergency lights and national guard vehicles lined up along the streets.
There were crowds gathered around a large perimeter of a 10 block radius. And in the center , lit up by construction lights in the dusk that was now falling in the city of LA, were the hundreds of bodies. It was an ominous sight to the Professor and M'Beke.
"Oh my God, " Said Dr. Williams.
"It does look like an attack of some sort."
