A Fresh Start ✦ Matthew Espinosa (ON HOLD)

•Saturday morning: 11:35 a.m.•

I woke up and sat up on the bed and grabbed my phone to see that Chase had called and messaged me.

Matt walked in the room to check on me.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" Matt asked.

"Hung over and annoyed but I'll be okay," I said.

"Why annoyed?" Matt asked me.

I just tossed him my phone for him to see, "that's why."

"He's still trying to talk to you?" Matt said as he walked over to the bed and sat next to me.

"Yeah, it's so tempting to reply, and I was going to, but you walked in to check on me which stopped me," I said looking down.

"I'm glad I walked in then! But don't give in Sam, he hurt you and you're still hurt," he said giving me my phone.

"It's hard, I almost called him last night," I said under my breath.

"If you did then you would be with him right now and you probably would have forgiven him, so I'm glad you called me because the last thing he deserves is your forgiveness after what he did to you," Matt said looking at me.

"You're right," I leaned over to rest my head on Matt's shoulder.

"You'll be fine, and you'll get through this," Matt said as he placed his head on top of mine.

"If I didn't have you right now, I would still be with Chase," I said.

"And I won't let that happen because you deserve someone better," Matt said.

"I sure feel like I don't deserve better," I said quietly.

"Sam, don't say that you don't because you do," Matt said as he sat up looking at me.

"Matt no one wants a screwed up girl like me, I'm too much to handle and I'm too complicated," I said looking down at my lap.

"Sam, someone will be able to handle you, there is a guy out there dying to get a girl like you, because I know behind all that tough act that goes out to get drunk there is an amazing girl any guy would be lucky to have," Matt said. 

"Where the hell have you been all of my life? I feel like if you were in my life a long time ago I would be a completely different person."

"You have me now, now come on let's eat some breakfast," Matt said as he got out of bed.

I got up and put on the joggers that Matt let me borrow and walked out to the kitchen.

"When did you make this?" I asked.

"While you were still asleep," he laughed.

He had made bagels with bacon and eggs.

"Aren't you amazing," I smiled.

"Nah just made breakfast," he said as he got out two glasses and filled them with orange juice.

"Well thank you Matthew," I said getting a plate of food.

"You're welcome Samantha," Matt smirked knowing I hated being called that.

"I hate my name, but I'm letting you slide," I said as I sat down at the table next to Matt.

"Why do you hate it so much?" Matt asked me as he took a sip from his orange juice.

"I might tell you, but just not now...it's too early for that," I said looking down at my plate.

"I won't force you into telling me, but you tell me when you are ready and if you only want too," Matt said as he took a bite from his bacon.

"I'm pretty sure I'll end up telling you, but just not now, I don't want to think about it," I said and then took a drink from my orange juice.

"No pressure," he laughed.

"Good," I laughed, "so do you live with your parents or is this your place?" I asked trying to change the topic.

"Well this is my parents place, they went on a get away so I'm just staying here in the mean time," Matt said.

"Oh so you don't live here?" I asked and ate some of my pancake.

"For now until they get back I do, but I plan on moving out to Cali when they get back."

"Really?! I've been thinking of moving out of Virginia but I don't know where yet," I said as I finished up my food.

"You should definitely move to Cali! We could be roommates that way I could take better care of you," Matt said with excitement.

"I think I might actually consider it," I said as I took the last sip of orange juice.

"I think it would be a good idea you would be away from Chase and start new, I think you need a fresh start and really have a change."

"That's true, I think I might actually leave to Cali with you, I'd have to see what my mom and stepdad think when they get back, but I think I will move to Cali," I said as I put my plate and dish in the sink to wash.

"I say we do it! I have friends over in Cali too so you could meet them and start new," Matt said as he put his plate and cup in the sink.

"I'm sure I'd like it over there," I said as I turned on the sink.

"You aren't washing this, I am, you go fresh up and we're heading out," Matt said as he started to wash the dishes.

"I'm going out in this?" I said looking down at what I was wearing.

"We'll get you something to wear don't worry," he laughed.

I walked over to the room and into the restroom to wash my face and brush my teeth.

I'm actually considering moving to Cali with Matt. Seems crazy because I barely know the guy but from the time I've known him he's been helping me out with everything. Plus California was a place in mind to move to before any of this. The original plan was to move with Chase, but that's not happening. I just have to see what my mom and stepdad think about this. I'm sure they'll support me with what I decide especially my mom, after everything I've been through she wants me to have a fresh start.
