It is said that thousands of years ago, in the times of Christ. That God put super natural humans or gifted humans on Earth to help protect those around them. They were meant to be mortals with special powers that could be identified according to a significant birth mark in the silhouette of a dove. But a group of people believed that God did no such thing and that only God should have such powers. They called themselves Cleansers because they believed they were cleansing the Earth of evil hubris. For years they traveled in search of the mark, and killed anyone born with it not caring if it was a grown man, woman, toddler, or a poor defenseless infant. After hundreds if years they just became stories because the gifted had to hide who they were for their own safety. The gift is hereditary but not everyone who carries the gene can have the gift ( like my dad) he just passes it on to his children. So in order to protect their loved ones the gifted must raise their kids to control their gift and keep it a secret from the rest of the world. Cleansers were said to be extinct considering there would no longer be a need for them because all the gifted were in hiding. But we still had to fear ordinary humans. People tend to fear what they don't understand. And people just wouldn't understand us.

"Em are you almost ready for school!?" Yelled my aunt from downstairs and it made me snap out from my deep thoughts.

"Si I'm coming!" I yelled back. I let out a deep sigh dreading what my senior year had in store for me. I took one quick look in the mirror making sure I was presentable on my first day. "Dress to impress." Eva always said, I missed my big sister. I ruffled my loose curls and walked out the door.

On my way to school could feel my stomach doing summersaults. Gosh I was such a nervous person, and you could probably see it on my face because my aunt looked over at me with a sympathetic smile.

"Don't worry, you'll be fine." She said.

"Yea I know I just can't help being nervous." I said looking at my hands resting on my water bottle in my lap. The water started to parting, sticking to the walls closer to where my hands were. Sometimes I can't even tell I'm doing it. As soon as I noticed it I moved my hands. When we got to school I kissed my aunt goodbye and she accidentally shocked my a little.

"Ouch" I giggled "what was that for?"

"Oh haha sorry Em I guess I'm excited for you." She said smiling.

"It's cool, so remember to pick me up at 2." I said and waved as she drove away. I shook my head smiling and thinking that having an electric current running through my body would definitely suck. But my aunt knew how to control it most of the time. "Remember not to get on her bad side" I said to myself. Just one touch when she's in in that state, and she could stop my heart.

I walked in to the school clutching my binder in front of me. 'Well here I go."
