I walked through the school gates hoping I didn't look as oblivious and nervous as I felt. "Where is the darn office!?" I said through clenched teeth. Thankfully everyone was to busy talking about their weekend they hardly noticed me. But since this town is so small I figured my nickname would be new girl for a while. I frowned. Some girls looked at me up and down, for some reason I all of a sudden felt overdressed looking at their clothes. Some boys looked my way and just nodded and smiled and gave some suggestive looks, which I pretended not to notice. "Oooh no you don't Emma." I thought nto myself. "A boyfriend is the last thing you need right now." I never had trouble getting the attention of guys. They had trouble getting mine. Or so it seemed. Maybe I was just afraid. But of what?

"Hey watch it!" Said an unfamiliar voice whose books scattered all over the dirt.

"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry it's like I'm in another world or something." I said kneeling trying to help with her books. I quickly reached for a notebook but felt nothing but dirt. "Crap" I thought to myself I'm pulling in the dirt. I reflexively moved my hand out of the way causing the dirt to form a cloud. We both started coughing and while she swatted the dirt put my left hand underneath the dust made a pushing movement and a small gust of wind moved it completely. I looked around, good nobody saw. I picked everything up quickly and stood up, so did she. When I finally got a good look at her a realized how beautiful she was. Taller than me and very fit looking with very long dark hair almost black, with dark brown eyes, an angular shape to her face, wide lips and shiny braces on her perfect smile which she was now showing.

"It's cool just watch where you're going or I won't be so nice about it next time." She said menacingly.

"Yea totally sorry." I said nervously.

"You already said that." She giggled. "And how weird was that dirt cloud? It doesn't even look windy but what evs."

My stomachs turned.

"Um yea the wind, it's totally unpredictable." I said looking down.

"Duh, anyways you're new right? You have to be just look at the way you're dressed. I love your top and my name is Juliette by the way."

"Oh thank you my name is Emma, and what do you mean by that?"

"Do you not see a lot of the people around here, they don't really try. It's sad really but that's Yucca." She said smiling.

"I guess, so do you know where the office is?" I asked.

"The big building that says ADMINISTRATION looks promising." She said pointing to the building. How could I not have seen it. "Come on ill walk you there we have time before school starts."

After I got my schedule we talked some more and I was relieved to find out we had the same lunch along with her friend Reagan who soon became my friend. Reagan was a petite strawberry blonde with big blue eyes with a big personality, to big for her I would say. I had made a lot of new friends by lunch but I just knew that Reagan and Juliette were going to be the friends I could rely on. I just hoped I could keep my family's secret in the dark. I hate lying.
