Chapter V

Reese was experiencing a turbulence of emotions. They swirled inside his head, concealing his could be future. Reese was simply lying on his bed, belly up, when out of nowhere, soft lips met his. It was airy, breathless even. Reese couldn't remember how to breathe until the face that hovered over him backed away a few inches.

"I love you." Reese said half lidded. He could feel the way his lips stretched over his lips as he said it. He felt like his whole body was under an enchantment.

"I know." Star Wars fan. Reese, not so much. He would never forget the hours he'd spent side by side with Damien in the dark with those movies. Though Reese figured himself as a stronger and more masculine version of princess Leia.

Of course he did but, "For how long?"

"I knew when I looked into your eyes."

Reese had to strain to think. "You're not here."

Damien Barraza grinned down at him devilishly, his head and body hovered over Reese's impossibly. His eyes kind and inviting. Reese wished he could stare into them for hours, maybe even longer. He wanted so much to reach up and pull his face back down towards his. It looked like he was bending down, over him, but that was impossible because the headboard and wall would be in the way.

"But I can be." He grinned even more devilishly. Reese always wondered if Damien did that purposely. The sight always managed to make Reese's heart lurch a little.

Reese shook his head ever so lightly, "You can't be here. You went out of town. You're hours away and not coming back until tomorrow."

"I'm here now."

Reese shook his head again, though his head felt like it had been stuffed with cotton instead. It was like one of those out body experiences but this was pleasant.

"No," He tried shaking his head, unsuccessfully again, "your heart belongs to another."

The dream version of Damien smiled, it was like trying to look directly into the sun. "Go see him."

Reese didn't have to ask who he meant but images of that night back to haunt him. Betrayal. Hurt. Loss.

"He doesn't want to see me. I hurt him."

"But you'll never stop loving him too. Just like you'll never stop loving me."

But deep down, it was like Reese knew that answer all along. That boy was still in love with him, had always been! Reese hadn't realized until now. He could slap himself awake, come to his senses and go to Aden's house. All he had to do was ask Cameron where it was. Oh she was bound to ask questions but she would wait until after.

And just like that, Damien Barraza winked out of existence.

Reese popped upright noticing the sun was getting close to setting soon. He had two maybe three things that needed to be done. In which order, he felt there was little time to think. He reached for his phone and without really looking at it, dialed a number.

Reese didn't wait long once he heard the line click and it sounded like there were people outside.

"I'm letting you go." Reese said without giving Damien a chance.

"What?" Damien was obviously caught off guard but Reese could tell there was something else going on by the sound of his voice. Reese wanted to pause, to ask, to make sure everything was alright but now wasn't the time. Damien would forgive him. "Are you breaking up with me?"
