Chapter III
It wasn't Rubio's original intention to act as sour as he was acting now. At least he was acting sour towards Ralph Miller. The kid looked far too smug for his own good. Like he's just won first prize. Sure, maybe Rubio would have felt the same if he had been in his shoes, but he wasn't. He kept smirking at Ollie at every chance he got. What was worse, Ollie smirked back, but it was at Ralph.
He still couldn't keep his eyes off Ollie.
Rubio figured he could see the appeal in this Ralph kid. He wasn't as muscular as Rubio but he still looked like he owned a six pack. His skin looked like it had seen plenty of sun. His eyes were brown but light, friendly. His hair was a shade lighter brown next to his roots. He wore a white tank top with a black hoodie thrown over, the zipper was all the way down leaving his hoodie open, white shorts and brown sandals. Rubio thought the guy could have at least attempted to dress nicer if he wanted to impress his date. Well, his clothing choice showed that he had a nice body, so there was that.
He was still that new kid in town, so Rubio didn't know much about him, or where he lived. He had to force back the growl when he arrived near the theater entrance. It was out of town. This Ralph kid had his arms wrapped around Ollie to keep him warm. His Ollie!
They shook hands, Ralph's was notably strong but also smooth. Rubio would rather eat his own tongue than admit that the kid was handsome. To be fair, anyone who ended up with a guy has handsome as Ralph would be lucky. Be they male or female. Through the grapevine, Rubio heard he batted for both teams. It was the fella's that was his specialty. Maybe if Ralph hadn't swooped in and taken what could have been Rubio's, maybe things wound have been different.
At least they weren't alone. There was a girl with them. An ex for all Rubio knew. She was a brunette with red streaks in her hair. Her skin wasn't exactly pale like a vampire but he was slightly reminded of a vampire in Twilight movie. She had to be under five foot five, and she was sipping something through a straw, eyes cast in a different direction. She was still a babe!
Rubio was at least glad he decided to dress up warmly. It was indeed, chilly. The girl had finally noticed him and it was her blue eyes that were captivating. She had to be wearing contacts because there was no way her eyes could have looked that good. She offered a simple wave when she caught him openly staring, then went back to staring at the parking lot. Maybe she was waiting for someone?
Pierre decided to ditch everybody since Veronica read online, that first dates had a better success rate if they could at least talk. Going to the movies was a bad idea. Pierre must have finally found the girl of his dreams after all. He was not acting like himself. At all.
So it was just, Ralph, Ollie, Mystery Girl, Rubio and...
Rubio sipped his soda noisily causing several movie goers around them to look his way. He didn't care. He glared gaping holes into the back of Ralph's head every time he 'accidentally' bumped arms with Ollie. If it wasn't for Eric's hiss, things could have turn for the worse.
"Stop it Rubio. You're making yourself look stupid."
Rubio had to hold back a retort. He knew none of this was Eric's fault. If anything, Eric was doing him a major favor by coming here as peacekeeper and ditching his own boyfriend. He knew he should be thankful, maybe even grateful that Ollie found someone. Someone who had better be better than Rubio himself.
"He'd better be good to him." Rubio heard the disgust in his own voice. It should have been HIM pulling the cheesy move, the yawn then setting the arm sneakily behind Ollie.
