Will's POV

I laid down by Kat's feet exhausted from our run here. As she stood proudly as her pack began to gather around. They all started murmuring amongst themselves. Some worried about the new comer, others happy to see their alpha to-be. One man came forward with a smile. His hair was brown with a few gray hairs here and there, he was tall and walked with purpose. The other wolves around him lowered their heads in submission. "Must be the alpha." I thought as he approached.

"My beautiful daughter! You have returned! I've missed you so much!" He looked down at me, "And if it isn't little William! I haven't seen you in what ten years? maybe twelve? How are you my boy!"

I sat there confused, "I'm sorry Alpha sir, but I have no idea who you you are..."

He just smiled at me warmly, "you'll find out soon enough young man."

I watched as Kat greeted her father nuzzling her head against his leg as he pet her affectionately.

"Well you two must be exhausted, come lets go to the pack house and talk person to person." The alpha said as he headed in a random direction. Kat nosed my side and nodded towards her father,

"Lets go! I'm starving! Its about time for lunch anyways." She trotted after her father.

I huffed and stumbled to my feet still exhausted from the run. "How does she have so much energy that was over 5 hours of running!" I think to myself as I jog to catch up.

I nosed Kats flank trying to get her attention, "You said you're going to be taking over as alpha eventually right? Why aren't you alpha now? I thought the next alpha got the position around the age of 17 to 18 right?"

She barked a laugh, "I'm not 17 yet... I'll be 17 in three weeks. I'll take my position then. Hopefully that stupid prince won't ruin that by making me go back." 

"Really? HMMM I thought you were my age... I just turned 18 a couple days ago. and besides  he won't  ruin it. I'll make sure he understands that you did the time you could but now your pack needs you, he can't argue with that." I reply.

"Good because I refuse to be his mate anyway! He acts like I'm precious china! I'm a warrior an ALPHA for crying out loud. besides my pack needs me and I will place them above anything or anyone else." She says as we enter the house, "Ok so bathrooms are strait and to the left, get changed there then meet me in the dining room its to the right down the hall take a left and its the big doors."

I nod grabbing my bag in my teeth once again and heading into the bathroom.  I shift back changing into a fresh set of clothes. I run a hand through my hair and look in the mirror. I sigh, "I can't believe my father was making me marry that stupid Taylor girl that almost killed Kat." I mutter to myself, "No! I won't do it! I won't marry a common criminal! So what if she's an alpha's daughter! She tried to kill someone that's against wolf law! Even if I tell him that he won't let me choose my own mate, if I had a choice it would be a strong girl who can fend for herself but also has a soft side... like KAT!" There's a knock at the door interrupting my thoughts.

"Will? Are you ok? My father needs to talk to us." Kat calls through the door. 

"Coming!" I call back before slinging my bag over my shoulder and opening the door. We head down the hallway stopping at two large doors.

Kat knocked on the doors before entering, "Hey dad youuuu..... umm who's this?" I enter behind her shocked at who I see before me.

"Father! What are you doing here?" I ask surprised. 

He scans my appearance, from my dirty to my torn up old sneakers. "The better question my son; is what are you doing here."

I scratch behind my head awkwardly, "Well you see... um... well... me and Isaac got in a fight about something and well Kat said she was leaving and since we're now friends I couldn't let her go alone. um and I needed a break from palace life so I came with her. So here I am. Now why are you here?" I ask suspiciously.

"We are just arranging your marriage." He says going strait to the point.

"WHAT!" Kat and I yell in unison.

"DAD!" She growls out, "What does he mean our marriage?"

"Well, um honey, um, you've been engaged to Will since you were born... you two were best friends when you were little." Her father stutters out.
