I gulped as I stared down his basement. It definitely did not look inviting, but then again did any basement ever look inviting?

I hesitantly made my way downstairs into his basement. I turned the light switch on but the light at the end of the stairs was not bright enough in my opinion.

I continued to walk and see if there were any other light sources. I turned to my right and saw a string hang down from the top. I pulled on it.

The room was filled with light, still not as bright as I wanted it but it helped.

The basement had shelves full of junk, it seemed. There was a dark desk in the corner that had piles of book stacked on top of it.

I walked to the desk and looked at the stack of books.

They were random old books which were dusty. I wiped my hands then spotted what looked like a washing machine or dryer. I walked over to it and frowned when I realized it was just a freezer.

My curiosity wanted me to open the freezer.

But part of me was scared that maybe there were human parts in it.

If curiosity really did kill the cat, I think I was a cat in my past life and that's how I died.

I put my hands on the top of the freezer and took a deep breath.

I opened it and flinched when I for sure thought there would be something horrible in it.

But nothing was all I found.

I exhaled in relief.

I closed it and turned around.

"Snooping?"

I yelped completely getting the crap scared out of me.

I might have tripped to the side and was falling. Alex's hands were at my sides and caught me just before my bottom hit the concrete ground.

He pulled me up to stand.

"I just wanted to know where my clothes were." I said trying to control my breathing.

He narrowed his eyes at me for a few moments then took a step forward. I naturally took a step back and hit the freezer behind me. He looked into my eyes while leaning closer to me.

I couldn't read his expression nor guess what he might do.

He leaned in where his lips were next to my right ear.

"They're upstairs." He whispered. He stood up straight and stepped back and looked at me.

Alex smelt like smoke.

Does he smoke? That's the first time I've ever smelt it on him.

"You just gonna stay here and snoop?" He asked.

I snapped out of it and cleared my throat while unconsciously fixing my hair.

"Where is it?" I asked.

Alex stepped aside and motioned with his hands. "After you." He tried saying charmingly.

I walked up the stairs in front  of him with him following behind.

"Where are my clothes?" I asked when we were up the stairs.

Alex passed me and led the way.

"This house doesn't seem much like you." I commented

"I don't have time to decorate. Plus do I seem like the type to decorate on my free time?" He asked glancing back at me.

He led us to his kitchen.
