I tossed and turned and dug myself deeper into the comfy covers. Someone had kept calling my name but I didn't want to listen. I was too comfy to get up.
I was abruptly shaken awake. My eyes opened while I sat straight up. I looked around. I was in my room now, the light was streaming in through my windows.
"Hello, earth to Jasmin!" My mom said while waving her hands in front of me. "Can you get up and get some stuff for me at the market?"
I ignored her as I tried looking for my phone. It wasn't on my bed so I looked on my night stands on either side of my bed and saw it was on my left. It was surprisingly fully charged and it was 11 in the morning. I had many unread messages but didn't feel like opening any of them. I put my phone down and looked back at my mom who stood there waiting for me, looking at me irritated.
"The market?" She reminded me.
I looked over my mom before everything came rushing back. I wasn't looking at anything particular but the way she stood in front of me reminded me of the man last night, or just several hours ago. The quick flashback of his figure standing in front of the car before I had run over him.
I shuddered.
Did I really run over someone or was I just dreaming? At the time it seemed so real, but now I was starting to think what if it was just a dream? I don't remember getting back home so I'm guessing Alex had brought me back. But I thought about it again, there's no way what happened was a dream. As much as I had wanted the event to be a dream, I felt that it really did happen.
"Hello?" My mom said annoyed at my lack of response. I had to see Alex as soon as possible. What had even happened after? The last thing I remember was crying into Alex with him comforting me.
"Yes, just let me get ready." I said as I flung the covers off of me and got out of bed frustrated. I ushered my mom out of my room and rushed to my closet to pick out my outfit for the day. I settled for a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and a fitted baseball tee. I took a quick glance at the mirror. I tried messing with my hair to see which way I would part it that looked best. I sighed in frustration, my hair needed to be put up because it wasn't cooperating with me. I quickly put my hair in a messy bun and half smiled at myself in the mirror.
The back of my head had hurt a little while I was putting my bun up. Did I hit my head? I pushed the thought to the back of my mind. It had been a couple of days since I took a shower. A shower was definitely on my agenda for tonight.
"Here's a list of things I need you to get." My mom handed me a piece of paper as soon as I walked into the kitchen. There were already groceries on the counters. I looked over the list.
"Did you just go grocery shopping?" I asked.
She nodded her head placing a carton of milk in the refrigerator.
"Then what am I picking up at the farmer's market?"
"I forgot I wanted to pick up some fruits and stuff from there and I just got home, I don't feel like going back out." She explained.
Of course.
When I have kids and they are able to do things for me, I would definitely make them go out to do something I'd be too lazy to do.
"Got it." I said while stuffing the list in my jean pocket.
"Oh why don't you have Alex help you? I'm sure he's not doing anything on a Sunday." My mom suggested. I blinked at her.
