Tinaya:

"If I am not mistaken I would say that you both were in a very intimate sleeping position before we arrived," I teased.

Nina sent me a look to shut my mouth but I didn't. I laughed at Luke's awkward reaction and Nina's flustered state. Though no matter how much I laughed I couldn't put the past events behind me. The least I could do was pretend and hope that everyone else would.

We began telling each other the thing we wanted to know most; how we escaped. I told Calum and I's story while leaving out the personal details. Patience gave them the same answer she gave us, 'I ran.' Then Nina told us about Luke and her's escape.

"Then I threw the basketball and he fell backwards into-" she stopped abruptly from her funny tale.

Luke shot her a quick glance and then continued. "I got up and we ran out of there but then we met this guy. He was pretty crazy and stalker-ish. He put a knife to my throat and he kept saying that-"

"It was Damien," Nina said. Three words that made the atmosphere plunge like a roller coaster.

Calum looked at me, "D-Damien is here?"

Luke and Patience were both confused as to who this mysterious Damien was. They looked at us awaiting an explanation but it didn't arrive until Patience demanded, "just tell us already."

"Damien was my cousin," I emphasised on the word 'was'. He left the Dale family when he did the unspeakable. He was deported back to America without my Aunt Paula and Uncle Vic. He went to a prison for juveniles despite the crime he committed.

I gave Patience a look that said 'drop it' and Luke must've picked up on it as well because our group delved into the art of silence. I didn't know how long we stood there for but my ears pricked at the thunderous whisper of snapping twigs and animalistic cries.

"They're fast buggers aren't they," I muttered which earned a slap upside the head from Nina. "Come on! It's only swearing if your British."

"Which you are?" She retorted.

"Only a quarter."

"GIRLS!" Luke boomed which made us instantly shut up. "If they are who I think they are then we have to go."

Calum swept me off of my feet once again. Luke came over and offered to help but Calum shot him down despite the beads of sweat developing on his forehead. One can only handle my weight for so long before they drop. Even if they are as defined as Calum.

"Why thank you," Calum said with a cocky smirk on his face.

Fuck, I was thinking out loud. I made a physical effort to check my mouth was shut before I thought anything else.

The noise grew louder by the second and it became difficult to determine where it was coming from. Was it closing in on us from our left or right? More importantly; was it catching up behind us, or waiting for us ahead?

"Where do we go?" I called to the others as we were scrambling in the same haphazard direction.

No one replied but everyone heard. It was then that we all stopped. For all we knew, we were running right into there bloodied open arms. Everyone was out of breath from running up hill while managing to not slip on the leaves and loose rocky soil. Though Calum seemed to be gasping more than the others.
