Chaper 1: The game

Destiny's p.o.v

The game is almost over. It's the last set of this game, or should I say championship game. It's Wannesburg, the other team's, serve. Their best server goes back.

I hear my sister Hannah, who is also on the court, says, "Come on guys call it. Talk to each other!"

The referee blows the whistle. The girl throws the ball up. I hear someone from the stands scream "BALL'S UP!" She messed up! She missed it! The score is now 25 to 26. We are now winning. Come on Destiny, we need to win this.

As im saying this to myself I hear my coach scream, "hey Destiny, take your time. All we need is for that serve to go over that net! Settle down we need this!"

After my coach was done saying that I heard people that I didnt even know say "Go Destiny! You can do it!"

Well that made me feel a little better but I am stil soo nervous. This is only my second year playing volleyball. My coach finally noticed how nervous I looked so she called a time out. We all get in the huddle. Even the players on the bench got up.

"Destiny, I believe in you. We all do. You just gotta believe in yourself and take your time! Settle down, you can do it."

I replied by saying, "thanks couch. Can I call it?"

"Sure."

I take a deep breath and say, "BUCS ON THREE."

Then everyone joins in. Even the fans. "ONE, TWO, THREE , BUUCCSSS!"

We go back on the court. As I pick up the ball and start to go back in position I hear Hannah say "Destiny you can do it. All that practice will take you somewhere one day. Do this for yourself and mom."

"Thanks Hannah."

I am shaking right now, thats how nervous I am. I get in position as the referee blew the whistle. I took a deep breath and threw it up. I hit the ball and it goes over the net. I ran up to where im suppose to be. The girl in the back row went to dive for it and hit it right for the net. The girl in the front row missed it! She MISSED it! I just won the 2012-2013 state championship for my team. I cant believe this. I am so shocked I cant even move. I am knocked out of my thoughts as all my teamates attacked me with a group hug. They were smashing me.

The crowd was going crazy. They started chanting "BUCS, BUCS, BUCS!" Over and over again.

I had never thought that a small school like chartiers could win the state championship. My teamates lifted me up on their shoulders as the announcer for the game handed me the trophey. I held it up and everyone got louder, which I didnt knew was humanlly possible. I have the biggest smile on my face! They put me down so we could get our medals. The coach told the announcer to call my name last.

As he went down the line he skipped me but not before he said, "great job! You played a great game!"

I smiled and said, "thanks!"

After he finished with everyone. He said this into the microphone, " ladies and gentlemen. Last but definitely not least, DESTINY WINTERS!"

Everyone screamed and started to chant my name. This is so amazing. He put the medal around my neck.

He puts the microphone up to his mouth one more time and said, "who thinks that Destiny should get the game ball?" Everyone screamed so he said, " well Destiny here u go!" He handed me the ball.

After we did our little chant we got on the bus for the two hour ride home. What a night.
