Thalia's POV
We had just settled down for the night, lying by the fire and talking quietly when I heard footsteps quickly approaching me. I quickly snap my head to the side, toward where the noise is coming from. I see Serene, one of the newer Hunters, rushing toward me. "Thalia," she breathes, "There's somebody down the path. She asked specifically for you." I push myself off the ground and brush the dirt and leaves off my jeans. Whoever it was, they knew I was lieutenant. They obviously knew quite a bit about us, which could have been good but I naturally had to assume it was bad. I had been on edge ever since we had been betrayed by the Amazons, our closest allies.
When I got to the clearing at the end of the path, I saw none other than Reyna. THE Reyna. The one I had secretly swooned over last summer, when I first met her. She had tackled me to the ground with more skill than any mortal I knew. The first thing I was attracted to was her fighting power. Then it was her warm, deep brown eyes that contained a world of hurt that I knew all too well. Reyna was perfect in almost every way, from her spunky personality to her luscious hair to- I had to stop thinking like this and focus!
"Hey, Roman! Come back for more, did ya?" I tease. "Just couldn't get enough of me!" It may just be the sparse lighting, but I do believe I see Reyna blush. "Shut up, Graceus," she snarls. "There's my Reyna!" I exclaim. Reyna rolls her eyes, which pleases me because the only reason I do irritating things around her is to get a reaction like that. "I need to talk to you," she says. "Obviously," I mutter. "I want to join the Hunt," she declares.
