Reyna's POV
I follow Thalia to the practice field, anxious to get started. Especially with her. I want to prove to her how good I am. That I deserve her approval. Oh my gods, since when did I start looking for approval!? "Since you met Thalia," my inner voice whispers. I silently tell it to shut up.
We arrive at the clearing and Thalia stops right in front of me. I nearly run into her but stop myself. Not that I would mind...
She starts off by showing me some basic moves I've known practically since birth. When she asks me if I can do them, I feel free to demonstrate. Apparently she saw it coming because she catches the punch I throw and counters my moves with ease. "Immortality, man," she says. "You've gotta love it." I see her playful glare and the mischievous glint in her eye and match it with a vicious snarl of my own. I throw her to the ground after barely a minute but she laughs. She LAUGHS. "Think you're pretty great, don't you Roman?" She teases. "Oh please," I reply. "If we're talking arrogance..." Thalia laughs again and throws me under her so that she's sitting on my chest and her knees pin down my arms. "Wonder where you learned that," I mutter loud enough for Thalia to hear. She glares at me. "Please, Roman. The Hunters invented that move before your grandad was born." Suddenly I lost interest in the fight. Thalia feels my muscles relax and stands up, offering me her hand, which I decline. I easily stand up and brush off the jeans that I traded my praetor's robe for. "You sore about losing, Roman?" Thalia asks. I shake my head. "I still could have easily taken you down," I say smugly. "But maybe stay away from the topic of my family." I can tell that Thalia senses my agitation because she looks at me with this weird concerned look I've never seen on her before. It's kinda cute. "Okay, Roman," she says. I follow her back to the campfire where the rest of the Hunters sit talking and sharpening their weapons.
