We Are A Family

Chapter 10

"Okay Haley, I need you to give me a really big push." Doctor Everest told me, I had tears streaming down my cheeks; my heart hurt and my back was killing me. CC, Shay and Kayla were all in the room with us as I screamed pushing.
"That's it! You're doing really great Haley, I'm beginning to see its little head." He said.
I shook my head, I squeezed down on CC's hand who was running his hands through my hair.
"You're doing great Haley." He told me.
I had tears, I began to breath in and out really fast before giving one last push.
Crying was heard throughout the room, my heart felt like it was ready to stop; I thought I was going to die.
"Congratulations, its a girl." The doctor told me, I smiled softly but my eyes widened with fear when the baby was handed to me; it was bloody with no eyes. It kept crying as I looked to CC and the others who were all smiling.
"She's so adorable." Shay said.
I shook my head as tears filled my eyes.

I sat up fast, drenched in sweat; my heart was beating fast. I looked around, I was in our room; CC was still asleep as I frowned. I ran a hand through my hair.
"I need a shower.." I murmured.
Crawling out of bed, I headed into our bathroom; striping out of my clothing. I turned on the warm water, then stepped in turning the shower head on.
I stood under the water frowning, CC and the guys have been here for two month's.. I was having the baby in a month, after that dream.. I could feel the tears returning to my eyes, I tensed feeling arms wrapping around me. I was brought back into reality, CC was now in the shower with me; I relaxed myself into his hold as the water hit us.
"Was it another nightmare?" He asked.
I nodded, drying my hair now; I looked into the mirror. "It felt so real.." I murmured.
CC looked to me, drying his own hair he frowned softly. "It was only a dream baby, I'm sure our baby will look as beautiful as you and I do." He said.
I rose a brow with a grin. "You're calling yourself beautiful now?" I questioned.
CC rolled his eyes before smirking. "Maybe? Also, we're going on a date tonight. Just the two of us." He told me, putting a shirt on. I tilted my head looking at him; "where are we going?" I asked him.
CC smiled, he brought his lips to mine. "You'll see." He told me then exited the bathroom.

I watched as he walked out, turning back to the mirror; I noticed the bags I have started to get from lack of sleep. All this month, I've had nothing but nightmares; all revolving around the birth.. I frowned, throwing my clothes on; I exited the bathroom and the bedroom to go see where CC had wondered off too.
In, four months; I will be twenty.. It will be my second year without seeing my parents at it, except on skype. Every time we talk now, all my mom can do is cry; she reminds me how tired I look and that I need to try to get more rest.
I walked down the stairs frowning to myself, it was hard to sleep when all you have is nightmares.
I smiled softly seeing Jace at the kitchen table, he was eating cereal while Jake read the newspaper; it was kind of amusing seeing him read something like that.
I yawned a little, walking over to Jace; I ruffled his hair before kissing the top of his head.
Most of the time, I felt like his mom; I wasn't as strict as our mom was. That was one of the reasons why Jace had asked me if he could live here, I had yet to discuss that topic with our mom and CC and to think about it myself; could I really take care of a baby and my little brother? I knew I would have help, but that was besides the point.. Our mom was going to have an heart attack if I asked her if Jace could move in with me.

I looked at the tablet, Jinxx had got him for a gift; he was watching Jack. Everyone knew that Jace looked up to him, that was all he usually talked about.
Which reminds me, Jack had sent me a text requesting to take Jace to an amusement park or something; just to make my little brother's day. I haven't brought it up to Jace yet, I knew if I did; he would bother me to text Jack and ask him all these crazy questions.
Jack was very sweet to Jace, which is what I appreciated a lot.

Jace took a big bite of his fruity pebbles, then removed his head phones to look at me. "When is Jack going to visit again?" He asked.
Jake glanced to me with a small smile, everyone in the house knew of Jack's question; except for Jace.
I ran a hand through my hair, sighing softly; I looked at him with a soft smile.
"I received a text from Jack a few days ago, how would you like to go to a amusement park or something with him?" I asked.
Jace's blue eyes grew wide with excitement, and here came his large smile.
He nodded really quick, removing himself from the table to hug me; I stopped him with a laugh.
"Go give CC two big hugs, one for him and one for me, if I wasn't sore; I'd let you hug me." I told him.
Jace tilted his head but nodded, running off; he went to find CC and when he found him. Hugs were given.

It was around six when we left for this date CC had mentioned earlier this morning, we went to Logan's; only because they had amazing pork chops there; not to mention. Fantastic brownies with ice cream and something else..
We were brought to our table for two, I grinned when we sat down; across from each other.
CC looked at me from his menu with a soft smile. "Jace seems to be excited about hanging out with Jack tomorrow." He said.
I nodded with a soft smile. "He is, Jace really idolizes that man." I said.
CC chuckled taking a drink of his tea, when our waitress returned; we gave her our orders and resumed our conversation.
I looked at CC with a frown. "You know, Jace asked me if he could move in with us." I said taking a drink of my water.
CC rose a brow looking at me with a serious expression. "What did you tell him..?" He asked.
I looked at him. "I told him I would need to talk to our mom and you about it, plus I still need to think about it." I murmured.
CC frowned. "Haley, you know your mom is going to disapprove. He is only thirteen, why would you even consider asking her that?" He asked.
I looked away, messing with a roll; I frowned. "I don't know.. he just seems happy with us?" I said.
CC sighed. "Because we're not parents yet, and we're not strict. Yet." He told me.
I huffed looking at him. "I am only trying to be considerate of my little brothers feelings, hes unhappy in Texas." I said.
CC rolled his eyes at me, did he seriously roll his eyes?
I glared softly. "Fine, I see how you are on the idea; next subject?" I hissed.
CC shot me a look as he frowned. "Don't." He said.
I frowned deeply. "Don't what?" I asked.
CC glared softly. "Make me feel like the bad idea, don't get an attitude when I'm stating facts here." He told me.

I bit back a laugh with annoyance. "I have an attitude? I just want my brother to be happy." I told him with a glare, some date this was turning out to be.
CC gave off a irritated sigh. "You need to think about your own mom, Haley; he is still her baby boy. Asking her if he can move in with us, is like asking a owner of a store if its cool if you steal something." He said.
The two of us sat there in silence, glaring at each other; when the food was brought to us, all anger was gone.
We began laughing at how the steak looked, CC pointed out that my green beans were hard like something else was; and that was when the food fight began.
It took us ten minutes to calm down from laughter, when we went to eat; our food was almost cold.
I ended up sharing my pork chop with CC and he gave me bites of his steak, when the dessert came; I had to ask for a doggy bag or something. I was full.

When we left the restaurant, we went to the park; hand in hand and admiring the stars and pond. After we left the pond, we headed home; my feet were killing me.
I walked inside with a yawn, Jace was on the couch; and sudden sadness took over me.
I was going to have to tell him he had to go home when our mom wanted him, I was going to be the bad guy..
I walked into the kitchen, placed the left overs in the fridge; then made my way to the couch.
I took a seat next to him, frowning softly.
"Jace I-
"Mom told me I can't move in.." Jace said, his knees were brought to his chest; I looked at him with a frown. "I told you I was going to talk to her.." I said
Jace shrugged. "When you told me about Jack, I got excited.." He murmured, I watched as tears filled his eyes. I sat there, holding him in a comforting hold; I listened as he cried.
I glanced to the stairs, where CC stood; he frowned before vanishing.
I ran my hands through his hair.
This is what it will be like when my kid is upset, the guilt and sadness will upset you just as much; knowing there is nothing you can do.
This is what a family will be like.. I was now, not at all ready for the baby to come.
