My New Pet!

  While you were in your big brother Matt's truck, your thoughts began to wonder about this person you were getting ready to meet. They must have been really something since your dad put off spending time with you as soon as he heard the name. You touched your cheeks and rocked side to side.

When Matt had informed you that you both had arrived, you stayed bouncing up and down in your seat until he unbuckled you and helped you out. You looked all around you and noticed that you were in the middle of the woods. It didn't look as if there were any kind of buildings or shops in sight.

"Where are we?" you curiously asked as you circled a tree and looked another up and down.

"The woods. Can't you tell? I'm gonna take you to my second house."

You gasped, "You have a second house?"

"Yeah. We just gotta walk to it."

"Ok!! Which way?! I can find it! What does it look like?! Point towards it!! I'll find it! I'll find it!!" You started running around, but Matt snatched you up before you could get too far away.

"Just calm down, aright? How much sugar have you had?"

"Not a lot!!" you smiled widely at him and answered. "Can we start walking to your house?! I can walk Matt!"

"I don't want you getting lost and shit. I'm just gonna carry you there."

"But Matt!!" you whined and flailed your arms around. "I can walk! I'll stay close to you. I promise!"

He sighed, "Just shut up."

"Ok..."

You lowered your head then leaned it against his chest as he walked with you. It was actually relaxing. You were very comfortable resting in your brother's arms. You stayed quiet but kept a look out for anything that looked like a house. Then you saw it. Your eyes got big as you saw an old looking log cabin up ahead.

"Is that it, Matt?" you asked with hope in your voice.

"Yep," he answered you."Wow! It looks so coo,l big brother."

He slowly began to put you down but kept hold of your hand.

"We can go in?" you requested.

"Yeah, but before we go in just remember...don't scream."

"Oh, ok," you nodded before he opened the door.

You walked in first and observed your new surroundings. It was very cozy, and you liked that a lot. While you were looking over everything, you saw something that you felt you should've seen first. A big white bear laying down comfortably by itself in a corner. You pointed to it cautiously.

"Matt...That's a bear, right?"

"Yeah...that's a bear."

"...And...this is your house, right?"

"Uh-huh. That's Kumajiro."

You covered your mouth with your hands. "C-can I pet it?!"

"Uhm...sure."

You ran towards the white bear and rubbed your hands and cheeks against it. "Cheerios!! It's nice to meet you, Kumacheerios."

He started moving due to your sudden affection. You got a little scared and jumped back quickly, causing you to fall back onto your butt. "W-whoa."

The bear faced you and started sniffing you which you mistook for him trying to see if you were good enough to eat. You were going to just burst into tears and roll around dramatically, but you remembered that Matt told you not to scream. You tried to keep your outburst to yourself, but that only led to you slowly letting out small and quiet cries of fear.
