Brights lights. Groggily, I rub my eyes from my deep sleep. Huh? Where am I? My eyes travel across the unfamiliar room I was sleeping in. I glance over to the right of the bed I slept in and see an IV hooked up to me. Panic fills my chest like a virus threatening to take me over. Before I can freak out a pretty looking nurse walks into the room. A nurse? When the nurse notices that I'm awake she quickly exits the room and returns with a doctor. I must be in the hospital. Dread creeps into my head. What happened?
"What happened to me?" I immediately question, "Why am I here?"
The doctor relays the events of how I ended up in the hospital.
"You were found unconscious in the pool at your grandmothers. When she arrived home, she called the ambulance immediately. You're a very lucky person, most people who get electrocuted for so long don't make it."
Then I slowly recall what had happened. The pulse. The floating water. Getting shocked. Everything going dark. I shiver when I start remembering the excruciating pain I felt before I passed out.
"How long have I been out?" I ask tentatively.
He stays at me with sadness in his eyes, "You were in a coma, in that time eleven months have passed."
"E-Eleven months?" My voice shakes. "I've been out for nearly a year?" He just nods.
"How is my grandmother? Is she alright? Where she?" Words tumble out of my mouth with worry.
"I'm sorry" Is all he says.
"No... No, no, no, no!" Tears fill my eyes as I shout the words, "She can't be!" they start flow from my face.
"You'll be able to leave tomorrow, your vitals are stable. Your grandmother left her fortune and her home to your name. Her funeral was six months ago. I check in with you tomorrow when your ready to leave, the nurses will bring some food to you soon."
The doctor exits the room and minutes later, The nice looking nurse enters with a large lunch. My stomach growls as she places in on the table next to me. She smiles and I try to smile back, but my facial muscles are still waking up and it ends up looking more grim. Stupid face muscles! The nurse exits the room with a parting wave.
I inhale the food almost immediately, feeling like a bear right after hibernation. Gobbling the last of the food on the tray, I reach for the glass of water to wash it all down. When my hand nears the liquid it swishes, almost as if it reacted to the proximity of my hand. I pull back my hand then test it again, surely it rippled without a direct touch. Stumbled across this discovery, I grab the glass and gulp it down pondering of what had just happened. After completing the glass, immediately a I felt strangely more energized than I should have been.
What in the world happened to me?
